Fun Stuff

Trivia:

The "surveillance bush" that Karen (Tara Spencer-Nairn) hides behind in her car in episode 1.1 "Ruby Reborn" doesn't actually exist, it was simply held up there by a crew member who was lying flat in the ditch. The bush appears in only one other episode - the finale, 6.19 "You've Been Great, Goodnight", and it once again had to be re-planted (footage of this event was featured in the "It's Been a Gas" special aired by CTV before the episode). more

Quotes:

Karen Pelly: I got a riddle for you, Hank. Okay. A plane crashes on the border of Alberta and Saskatchewan. Where do they bury the survivors?
Hank Yarbo: Hmmm. Tough one. Right on the border, huh? Well, is there one larger chunk of the airplane on one side?
Karen Pelly: No. It's broken directly in half, distributed over the two sides.
Hank Yarbo: Wow, that's really tough.
Karen Pelly: [Repeats herself] A plane crashes directly on the border of Alberta and Saskatchewan. Where do they bury the SURVIVORS?
Hank Yarbo: OHHHHH! The *survivors*.
[pause]
Hank Yarbo: Bury one on each side.

I Like It.....and I'm not Canadian!!!!!!, 28 December 2005
Author: JBLOSS (JEREMYBLOSS@HOTMAIL.COM) from Milton Keynes, UK

I happened to catch an episode of this series when I was on holiday in Canada and became an immediate fan. The series is character driven, and similar in spirit to Seinfeld as a whole lot of nothing tends to happen in the small town of Dog River. There is quite a warmth about the characters and their interplay and the humour is generally good natured, focusing on human weaknesses and relationships. I am surprised it has never been shown on TV in the UK as I think a lot of people would appreciate the humour - there seems to be a lot of similarities between Canadian and Brit approach to comedy. If you've never seen it then it's well worth checking out
