It looks like Anna Faris is going to have a very busy 2010.  A couple of weeks ago we told you about her plans to visit Jellystone Park next year when she stars in the Yogi Bear movie.  Now we have news today of two more projects that will star the talented young comedienne.  She has just signed on to the romantic comedies Wedding Banned with Robin Williams and Tmi with Ryan Reynolds.  Hit the jump for details on both projects.

According to THR, Anna Faris and Robin Williams will co-star in Wedding Banned. The story will revolve around a long-divorced couple who kidnap their daughter on her wedding day to prevent her from making the same mistakes they did.  As you can imagine, the parents rekindle their relationship as they elude cops and the angry groom.  Faris will star as the daughter and Robin Williams is currently signed on to play the father. »

Anna Faris Gets Kidnapped In Wedding Banned

17 November 2009 12:20 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Remember when Robin Williams used to go dramatic? He gave us beautiful performances in Good Will Hunting andDead Poets Society. Hell, I even dug Jakob the Liar. The dude seems to have a good sense of what it takes to dig down deep and pull out a tough performance, even if it doesn.t match up perfectly with his comedic persona. Well, with movies like Old Dogs, those days seem to be long gone. In his upcoming Wedding Banned, Robin Williams will play a husband who teams up with his ex-wife to kidnap their daughter and convince her not to get married. Sounds like a grand old time, right? Now THR reports that Anna Faris has signed on to play the bride-to-be. Jack Amiel and Michael Begler penned the script. These are the guys behind Raising Helen and The Shaggy Dog, so you know it.ll be good. After Observe »

Anna Faris Gets Wedding Banned

16 November 2009 11:32 PM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Yes, you wait ages for an Anna Faris news story and then two come along at once. The actress will be starring opposite Robin Williams in Wedding Banned, which (unsurprisingly for Faris) is a rom-com but (surprisingly for Williams) sounds to have a mildly promising premise.Faris will play Williams' daughter, who he kidnaps on her wedding day, aided by his estranged ex-wife, so that the long-divorced couple can stop their daughter from making the same mistake that they did. But as the pair and their hostage try to avoid police and Faris' angry groom, the couple - you'll never guess - rekindle their old spark. And everyone learns a valuable lesson, we suppose. There's no director attached just yet, so much depends on who they find to take the reins. Jack Amiel and Michael Begler wrote the script, which we've got to hope is better than some of their previous efforts, »

Comic book Cla$$War optioned by Surrogates team

5 October 2009 1:09 AM, PDT | Corona's Coming Attractions | See recent Corona's Coming Attractions news »

The makers of Surrogates, Beverly Hills Chihuahua and The Shaggy Dog remake have optioned a little-known comic book. Mandeville Films is the production company and the comic was called Cla$$War. It came out between the years of 2002 and 2004 and was published by an independent publisher called Com.x. Surrogates was based on a Top Cow graphic novel so Mandeville has a proven track record when it comes to mining comics for movies.

Cla$$War was about a superhero called the American, a superpowered man who is called upon by the United States military to pursue America's foreign policy around the world. The writer of the series, Rob Williams, likened his book to a political thriller with elements of Noam Chomsky but with superpowers.

Surrogates producers and Mandeville owners Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman will produce the new movie along with Rick Alexander. A writer hasn't been hired yet. »

Robin Williams To Star In Wedding Banned

28 August 2009 12:57 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

It’s been just two short years since Robin Williams starred in the risible wedding comedy, Licence To Wed. But time is a great healer, and so he’s at it again, signing on to star in Disney’s wed-com, Wedding Banned. Let’s hope that the second marriage is better than the first. To be fair, this one has a decent premise. Williams will play a father who, along with his ex-wife, kidnaps his daughter on her wedding day so she won’t make a terrible mistake. Along the way, as they evade the cops and the angry groom, the divorcees gradually rekindle their own romance.Could be fun. Could be Licence To Wed 2. Although, given the track record of the writers – Jack Amiel and Michael Begler wrote The Shaggy Dog and Raising Helen, both comedies filed under ‘my eyes, my eyes, make it stop, my goddamn eyes’ – we »

A Goblin the Whole Family Can Love

22 June 2009 1:43 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

What do you get when an Oscar winning visual effects artist teams up with the screenwriter of Daddy Day Care? A monstrous family comedy called The Goblin that's poised to be the greatest film of its kind since A Gnome Named Norm.

Variety reports that visual effects wizard Charles Gibson, who has won Oscars for his work on Babe and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, will make his directorial debut with The Goblin, a family comedy about a suburban family that moves into its new home only to find a curmudgeonly goblin who doesn't want them there.

The script was penned by Geoff Rodkey, screenwriter of such modern classics as Daddy Day Care, Rv, and the remake of The Shaggy Dog. Wonder how that curmudgeonly goblin feels about crappy family comedies?

And somewhere Verne Troyer sits by his phone desperately hoping the producers don't plan to go with an entirely computer-animated creature. »

Oscar winning visual effects supervisor and second-unit director Charles Gibson (seen above) will make his big screen directing debut with the family comedy The Goblin. The project is being developed by Daddy Day Care producer Matt Berenson, Wind Dancer Films principal Matt Williams, and production head Judd Payne. The script, written by Geoff Rodkey (Daddy Day Care, The Shaggy Dog, Rv) revolves around a suburban family that moves into its new home only to find a "curmudgeonly" goblin who doesn't want them there. "It's about creating a goblin that will appeal to audiences of all ages," Williams explains. Gibson won Oscars for the visual effects on Babe and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and worked as a second-unit director on Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Terminator Salvation most recently. At first, I thought this might be an interesting project, but after taking a closer look »

Why Must Kid Films Demonize Divorce?

11 May 2009 12:17 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

When my kids stay with me as part of their weekly custody arrangement, we usually spend Saturday mornings eating my wife's homemade pancakes and watching a movie I taped from either the High School Musical channel or the Sponge Bob channel. My nine-year-old son handles DVR remote control duties with the fluid dexterity of Liberace on the piano. At some point during recent showings of The Shaggy Dog and The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl, I picked up on two common themes: 1) The willingness of Sex and the City's Kristin Davis to play a suburban housewife under any circumstances, and 2) The leveraging a child's worst nightmare -- divorce -- for gratuitous dramatic effect. In both kid films, the parents' marriage is in some state of jeopardy; in one, the kids perceive a role in saving it. In each case, the »

Galaxy Quest Finally Gets an Upgrade

11 February 2009 1:23 PM, PST | TheMovingPicture.net | See recent TheMovingPicture news »

Before Tim Allen completely went off the rails, starring in flicks like Joe Somebody, Santa Clause 2 and 3, Christmas with the Kranks, The Shaggy Dog and Wild Hogs, he hit the screen in Galaxy Quest – an extremely underrated comedy. The 1999 flick, which followed the alumni cast of a cult space TV show having to save a real alien race, also starred Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Justin Long, Daryl Mitchel, Enrico Colantoni and Sam Rockwell. Paramount has now announced plans for a deluxe edition DVD. The disc will be available May 12 and come with 6 featurettes (Historical Documents: The Story of Galaxy Quest, Never Give Up. Never Surrender: The Intrepid Crew of the Nsea Protector, By Grabthar's Hammer, What Amazing Effects, Alien School - Creating the Thermian Race, Actors in Space), a Thermian Audio Track, deleted scenes, a Sigourney Raps feature and the theatrical trailer.
