V – TV Review

3 November 2009 2:49 PM, PST | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

There's something decidedly odd about all the rebooting going on these days, and when a show has a "gag," we're in even stranger territory. What's odd about the whole deal, especially recently, is that there are so many television shows getting one reworking or another that decide against camp. In a kind of mirror effort to the reworking of Battlestar Gallactica, V is debuting tonight, and whether either of them are good or bad, the whole idea is just weird. I don't know about anyone else, but this reconstruction trend is messing with my childhood. I liked it better when someone would take something awesomely bad like The Dukes of Hazzard, and tell themselves they could make a pretty stupid movie out of it that might make some money. Fair enough really. But, the dripping with camptasticness Battlestar Gallactica is suddenly deadly serious, and everyone speaks like it's Patton or somesuch, »

Tracy Morgan Joins The Twitter Craze As Miley Cyrus Goes Offline In Today's Twitter-Wood

8 October 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

The nice thing about Twitter-stalking celebrities is that under most circumstances there is no danger of injury or harm to personal property, which is more than can be said of Christian Serratos' mother's car today, according the "Twilight" star's tweets.

And while danger may not have been a factor, Miley Cyrus seems to have decided that Twitter is no longer the place for her, according to her final tweet before closing her account. I will personally miss the pictures or her mullet-wigged, surgical masked father, in addition to all of her meditative wisdom, and wish her well offline. Sarah Silverman, Ice-t and Jessica Simpson are all still online though. Believe or not, they all posted pics over the last 24 hours, and Silverman's is easily the least bizarre. Oh, and let's also take a moment to welcome Tracy Morgan to the Twitter community. He greets us with an ominous message, »

What about Jack? Kirby estate files notice of copyright reversion aainst Marvel, Disney, Sony, Universal, Paramount...

20 September 2009 4:26 PM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

And now, the other shoe drops.

Jeff Trexler points to this New York Times piece saying that the Jack Kirby estate sent notice of copyright termination to Marvel, Disney, Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures and others who have been making films and other forms of entertainment based on the characters Jack created or co-created for Marvel.

The Kirby estate lawyer is Marc Toberoff, the man representing the Siegel estate in the Superman copyright case, who has already done an excellent job of raking DC and Warner Brothers over the coals. Toberoff has an impressive winning tally; Nikki Finke reminds us that Toberoff has also won or settled lawsuits on Lassie, Get Smart, The Dukes of Hazzard, and The Wild Wild West.

Kirby battled Marvel for years over the return of the physical artwork to his comics, and was asked to sign documents that would have irrevocable »

Way to kick a girl when she's down, Martha Stewart! Domestic ice queen and ex-con Stewart piped up to Us Magazine on Wednesday about Jessica Simpson's beloved Malti-Poo Daisy, which was snatched up by a coyote on Monday night, and her words didn't exactly drip with sympathy for distraught dog owner Simpson. Stewart opined, "It's pretty sad. She should have watched it more closely, though. She should have been more careful." True? Possibly. Cold? Definitely. In the meantime, Simpson is not giving up hope that Daisy might be recovered following her abduction. Patrick Swayze, The Cullen Family And Jessica Simpson's Dog In Today's Twitter-Wood

15 September 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Though Patrick Swayze's extensive career prompted massive tweeting about "Dirty Dancing," "Point Break" and "Ghost" today, it's important not to forget some of his less prominent contributions from "Donnie Darko" and "Saturday Night Live." Richard Kelly and Seth Meyers were just two of the many mourners who showed up in the Twitter-Wood feed to share such memories.

Swayze's death wasn't the only tragedy to appear today, though, as Jessica Simpson's dog Daisy was apparently kidnapped by a coyote. The actress and singer posted a worried pick of the missing pooch her account, in case anyone finds it. Elsewhere, "Eclipse" filming continues and you can find tweets from director David Slade as well as actors Peter Facinelli and Anna Kendrick below. They're in the Twitter-Wood report for September 15, 2009.

The Dukes of Hazzard actress frantically tweeted last night that her beloved Malti-Poo (a maltese-poodle cross-breed; yes, it's a real thing) Daisy was abducted by a mean ol' coyote last night. TV Generation: Nathan Barr Sweats True Blood

5 September 2009 6:39 AM, PDT | Daily Film Music Blog | See recent Daily Film Music Blog news »

On September 8, Varése Sarabande releases a CD from Nathan Barr's original score to the hit series True Blood. Now there's already a True Blood CD out there, but don't confuse the two - the disc by Elektra/Warner Bros. contains only the songs from the show and nothing from Barr's music. The new disc (pictured on the right) finally changes the situation and will feature 45 minutes of the Southern swampy tunes by the composer, not to mention to highly demanded songs: "Take Me Home" and "Sancto Erico", both of which underscore crucial scenes in the series. In the following interview you get to know all about Barr's music, his collaboration with Lisbeth Scott on the songs and a recent epidemic that's plagueing the world of television composers - namely not receiving any money from the online viewed episodes of your favourite television shows.
