Good first half & good songs!

'Boys' is the story of five boys and a girl from different families with different social backgrounds and upbringing. They are youthful, vibrant, careless violating all conventions and norms till reality strikes them and they are left to fend for themselves. In the process, they discover their hidden talent. Shankar, whose work we have seen earlier, like 'Nayak', 'Sivaji', 'Aparichit' (Hindi Title), moves to a different genre & concept with this movie. Most of his earlier movies were based on hero of the society etc. "Boys" is a story of young people & somewhat, the whole story is true. To be true, the second half of the movie lost its charm & there were plenty of stuffs, which would not be easily digested. Although, the movie had an absolute fun during the first half. Siddharth is a very promising actor & he delivers a fine performance. Genelia, she looked young in this movie & did her part well. And she always looked beautiful, so no point in complimenting her beauty. Among the rest other actors, Bharath was the one who was impressive, rest others were just okay & also, Vivek as Mangalam Sir, was very good. Shankar's direction is pretty decent & he tries to give a social message to the young generation. The movie is produced by M. Ratnam, whose directorial has been like Saathiya Yuva, Guru, Dil Se etc. The songs, they are among the pluses of the movie. A.R. Rehman once again composes some soulful tracks. The tracks 'Girlfriend', 'Ale Ale' & 'Sa Re Ga Mey' are the winners all the way. The presentation of the songs' visuals are good, 'Ale Ale' & 'Boom Boom' has an experimental view, which proves to be a fine treat for the viewers' eyes. On the whole, a movie with good first half, which fails to continue its charm in the second half, though the soulful music of the movie lets the viewers engaging throughout the movie.
