A "we're all human beings"-movie, 11 August 2003
7/10
Author: Eklek

The second movie of the Austrian director Barbara Albert was presented at the International Filmfestival in Locarno. It was hot outside and inside the hall human beings gathered to see Bose Zellen, "Free Radicals".

The hall became more and more humid and warm while we collectively used the available oxygen and tuned into the lives of some ordinary and more eccentric characters, that share the same community services (the shops in the precinct, the fast food restaurant, the secondary school, the hospital, the kindergarten), who have to cope with the losses, disasters, trauma's, divorces, aggression, rejections they are confronted with in an infinite universe. Fortunately (for them and the audience) the music (interesting soundtrack: "Take on me", "House of the rising sun" and religious and dance music) and the tender love and sex and their other passions and preoccupations give them some more hope and positivity in their everyday mediatised and consumerist lives.. 7 out of 10.
