Director Marc Forster on the Importance of Failure in Filmmaking

12 November 2009 1:09 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

I've been waiting and waiting to feature a video interview from Making Of for a long time. If you haven't ever heard of Making Of, it's an incredible new website that focuses on the filmmaking process. They post new interviews daily with some of the most talented and brilliant filmmakers out there talking about their own process and some techniques and tips. I finally found a video today that I wanted to feature and it has Marc Forster in it talking about how important failure is in filmmaking. That may sound odd at first (how can failure help?), but if that title gets you to watch this video, then all the better. Anyway, check this out. Marc Forster previously directed Quantum of Solace as well as The Kite Runner, Stranger Than Fiction, Stay, Finding Neverland, Monster's Ball, and Everything Put Together. He's attached to a number of upcoming projects, including »

The Jailhouse (Film Review)

15 October 2009 11:03 PM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

I have to admit, I am a big C. Thomas Howell fan…at least based on one movie. The Hitcher, from 1986 starring good old C. Thomas and perennial psychopath Rutger Hauer, was a classic horror/thriller film with two actors doing brilliant work, and will always be embedded in my subconscious as a wild ride and featuring one of the most maniacal performances of all time from Mr. Hauer. The years after The Hitcher, unfortunately, have not been kind to co-star C. Thomas Howell, who has starred in one low budget disaster after another (The Day The Earth Stopped, anyone?), doing movies just for the sake of paying the mortgage. I do, however, see the appeal of starring in The Jailhouse. For the first time since The Hitcher, C. Thomas Howell is fun again, channeling his own Rutger Hauer and relishing the role of a sociopathic deputy. Too bad the »

Nikki and Elizabeth Stay in Vancouver and Watch Jackson Play

14 September 2009 2:00 PM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Nikki Reed and Elizabeth Reaser were two of the Eclipse cast members who stayed around Vancouver over the weekend, attending costar Jackson Rathbone's show with his band 100 Monkeys last night. Nikki's boyfriend Paris Latsis has been hanging out in town while she works and he showed off his tattoos and sculpted arms from the front row. Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner were representing at the VMAs where they debuted the extended New Moon trailer and looked super cute together backstage. It's not much of a break, however, and they'll be back as Edward, Bella, and Jacob soon. View 3 Photos › »

Kristen and Co. Stay in Canada, Shirtless Kellan Labors in La

8 September 2009 6:00 AM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

The Eclipse cast had a bit of a break for Labor Day weekend so a handful of them took the opportunity to take off from Vancouver. Kristen Stewart stuck around and was without her controversial Bella wig to go shopping on Sunday. She was accompanied by Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed and Nikki's boyfriend Paris Latsis. There were no Robert Pattinson sightings, but some of the other cute guys like Xavier Samuel and Jackson Rathbone were downtown in the Canadian city. Kellan Lutz went without a shirt Saturday as he took a stroll around his La home, continuing his streak of heading out of town during time off from filming. He was joined in California by his costar Ashley Greene, who was decked out in red Sunday for an afternoon by the pool of the Roosevelt Hotel. Peter Facinelli was also home for the holiday, but was already on his way back to set on Monday. »

Emmy Nominations Reveal Few Surprises

16 July 2009 10:01 AM, PDT | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

It's a good day for funny people, especially if your name is Tina Fey or Seth MacFarlane.

Fey's series, 30 Rock, was handed 22 Emmy nominations this morning, which stands as a record for a comedy series. She and Alec Baldwin were also nominated for acting awards. Plus, for the first time some of the other actors on NBC's laffer  were recognized. Jane Krakowski, Jack McBrayer and Tracy Morgan all picked up supporting nominations.

MacFarlane's Family Guy was also nominated for best comedy series, the first time an animated show has cracked that category since The Flintstones in 1961. Two years ago MacFarlane decided to pull his show from contention in the animated series category to have it considered for best comedy.

Mad Men, the drama about the advertising world in the sixties, picked up 16 nominations in the drama categories, including a best actor nod for Jon Hamm. Hamm is also nominated as »

Hanks Tells Sensitive People to "'Stay Away" from Angels & Demons

13 May 2009 4:58 AM, PDT | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

The Da Vinci Code sequel, Angels & Demons, hits theaters this week and, despite Vatican approval, star Tom Hanks is warning sensitive viewers to skip the film. Hanks told Parade.com:

If anyone feels that the film is going to be offensive to them, don't see it. I'm here to say do not see the film. Stay away, please, please. I beg of you. Both films are adapted from the equally controversial novels by Dan Brown, though the books were published in reverse order, with Angels & Demons taking place prior to The Da Vinci Code. Hanks said of the controversy surrounding the films:

Every movie is exploited by the marketing people, but it's not like they created the controversy. The first movie had an equal amount of controversy, but nothing was destroyed. The world didn't come to an end, and people still went to church on Sundays. I predict it will »

X-Men Origins: Wolverine (review)

30 April 2009 8:59 PM, PDT | www.flickfilosopher.com | See recent FlickFilosopher news »

Remember how when you were a kid and you were having a birthday party and you begged your mom not to buy the cheap generic potato chips but please please please get the Ruffles with Ridges because they really were better? Wolverine is like that. It’s Frosted Flakes on a Saturday morning even though you’re now grown up enough to worry about carbs. It’s a carton of Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food for dinner. It’s not good for you -- not at all -- and it’s maybe a little embarrassing to admit if you’re mature and politically aware and anticorporate and all that, but sometimes a big bowl of processed cheese dip not even made from real milk, never mind Bhg-free organically herded heritage cows, is all you want. Sometimes junk food is soul food, and sometimes junk movies are yummy and satisfying (and »

Gays of our Lives (March 30, 2009)

Chatting with … Dennis Grabosch

Before there was Forbidden Love’s Christian and Olli or As The World Turns’ Luke and Noah, there was All That Matters’ (Alles Was Zählt) wildly popular gay romance between Deniz Öztürk (Igor Dolgatschew) and Roman Wild (out actor Dennis Grabosch). While the sexy, steamy romance between Roman and Deniz ended long ago, fans still hope for a reunion between the couple. But will it ever happen?

We chatted via e-mail with Dennis Grabosch about the popularity of the couple, if they’ll ever reunite, his decision to come out as an openly gay man, his recent marriage – and more!

Note: This interview was conducted before the news about the character of Roman getting a new lover.

AfterElton.com: Since the character of Roman is a professional ice skater, I wondered if you already knew how to skate or did you have to learn to do »

New Photos of Channing Tatum at the 'Sugar' Premiere

19 March 2009 6:31 PM, PDT | Channing Tatum Unwrapped | See recent Channing Tatum Unwrapped news »

Channing Tatum attended the premiere of Sony Pictures Classics' sports drama 'Sugar', which was held at the Silver Screen Theater at the Pacific Design Center on March 18, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. I have added sixty new photos to the CTU Photo Gallery that show Chan arriving at the event.

You can Click Here or on the slideshow below to check out all of the new pics...

In addition to Chan, celebs like Ryan Gosling, Jessica Alba, Melonie Diaz, and Cuba Gooding Jr. also attended the premiere last night.

'Sugar' follows Dominican Republic born baseball pitcher Miguel "Sugar" Santos (played by Algenis Perez Soto), who gets recruited to play in the minor leagues in the Us. I've read that it's an incredible look at the life of these born-to-play baseball players from the Dominican Republic and the culture shock they get when they arrive in America to »
