Talking to another national treasure, Michael Palin, Attenborough reveals how he was turned down by BBC radio, only to go on to land a job with the fledgling TV service. Though he rose to become the director of programmes, he's best known for fronting classic wildlife series such as Life On Earth and The Blue Planet. Also showing are examples from his oeuvre including The Life of Birds and Planet Earth, looking at wildlife in the Arctic and Antarctic.

Baldy Us comedian David Cross on aliens, chipmunks, upsetting the President and molesting the Pope
Hello, David. You grew up in Roswell, Georgia, which is presumably the same place as Roswell, New Mexico (1). Did you ever notice anything fishy/alien?
The aliens in New Mexico were from space whereas I was a poor fatherless Jew in a Baptist area of Georgia. That made me the alien.
You recently got into trouble for snorting coke 40 feet away from the President at some sort of Presidential dinner. What's next? Shooting up heroin 10cm away from the Pope?
A controlled substance is a controlled substance whether it's cocaine or heroin. That isn't really upping the stakes. I'd like to molest the Pope to the point he enjoys it so much he doesn't even file a complaint.
You're 45 and dating very attractive 26-year-old Hollywood actress Amber Tamblyn (2) (3). Do you give hope to baldies everywhere? »

Justin Theroux is something of a Renaissance man in Hollywood. As an actor, Theroux has appeared on numerous TV shows and in over a dozen movies, including acclaimed filmmaker David Lynch's Mulholland Dr. In addition, Theroux also works behind the scenes and behind the camera. He produced and wrote the script for Tropic Thunder and he wrote and directed Dedication.
Theroux recently tried his hand at the superhero genre, penning the script for the sequel to director Jon Favreau's adaptation of the classic Marvel Comics character Iron Man. Now, THR is reporting that Theroux has been hired by Fox to write a draft of Space Invader, a romantic comedy set in space that was originally written by Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger. Will Arnett (Arrested Development) will star in Space Invader as a man who follows his wife into space because he suspects her of cheating on him »

Sci-fi rom-com Space Invader (nothing to do with the arcade game, you'll be pleased to hear) has been in Development Hell for a while now. In early 2007 it was being talked up as a vehicle for Arrested Development's Will Arnett, with a script by Futurama alumnus Mike Lisbe. Three years later, Justin Theroux, the actor-turned-screenwriter who wrote Tropic Thunder and Iron Man 2, has come aboard to pen a new draft.Theroux may also direct the film, which is reportedly about a guy who becomes a space station janitor to keep tabs on his girlfriend, who he suspects is knocking off a Zapp Brannigan-style space blowhard. Will Arnett is still starring, according to THR, but whether Lisbe and his co-writer Nate Reger are still involved, having orginally sold the project to Fox, is unclear. That everyman-in-space scenario is kind of familiar, particularly in Britain, from things like The Hitch-Hiker's »

No offense, Justin Theroux. But this is the most exciting Parks and Recreation casting news of the day:
Amy Poehler's real-life, hilarious husband - Will Arnett - will guest star on a January episode of the sitcom.
Arnett has a recurring role as Jack's nemesis on 30 Rock, but he's best known as Gob from Arrested Development, one of the funniest characters in the history of TV.
According to NBC, via E! News, Arnett will portray a "Mri tech" in Pawnee. That's all we know about the role for now. Except for this:
It's sure to be hilarious. »

Will Arnett, formerly George Bluth II on Arrested Development and the devious Devon Banks on 30 Rock, will finally make a cameo on his wife Amy Poehler's sitcom Parks and Recreation in an episode that will likely air January 14. Poehler hinted at the cameo at a recent Paley Festival event. What remains to be seen is if Will's greatest comic foil will be present -- though I imagine the sexually oblivious grin of Jack McBrayer is overbooked at this time of year. [E!] »

Drew Barrymore impressed cast and crew with her acting abilities on the set of her directorial debut by screaming abuse at an actress when she couldn't cry on demand.
Barrymore appeared to lose her cool when Arrested Development star Alia Shawkat couldn't sob during a parking lot police arrest scene at the end of a 15-hour shoot.
A set insider tells WENN, "It was three o'clock in the morning and Alia's character, Pash, gets busted for underage drinking. She was supposed to break down and cry but she just couldn't.
"After about the fifth or sixth take Drew appeared to be getting genuinely annoyed and she started screaming and cursing at Alia, yelling, 'What really upsets you?'
"Alia seemed very embarrassed but she gave it one more shot and when that didn't work Drew called it a wrap and just went over and hugged Alia. I think she was just doing a helluva good job of acting annoyed to get the emotion she wanted for the scene out of Alia."
In the end the crying scene was cut from the film.
The source admits Barrymore impressed established extras and crewmembers with her relaxed approach to filmmaking.
He adds, "We were all surprised how competent she was. In between takes, she'd put on some music and was just her relaxed, casual self. She worked very hard on the movie and it really should have been bigger than it was." »

EW.com just got a big casting scoop on the unnecessary adaptation of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon Yogi Bear, in addition to revealing a writer and a new director contrary to what we heard when the project was announced over a year ago. Eric Brevig (of Journey to the Center of the Earth previously) is directing a script from Brad Copeland ("Arrested Development", Wild Hogs) with Dan Aykroyd voicing the picnic basket stealing bear and Justin Timberlake taking on the role of Boo-Boo. Meanwhile, Anna Faris (seen in Observe and Report) will play a nature documentarian following Yogi and Boo-Boo for her next project. While there's not much mentioned in the vein of conflict or plot for this film, I'm left wondering how and if Ranger Smith will fit into this story. The frustrated character was such a huge part of the original cartoon that I can't imagine them leaving him out. »

*Until they actually make the movie
Forget Scientology or Heaven's Gate. Today, the biggest cult in our country may very well be the teeming masses anxiously awaiting the return of "Arrested Development." After years of rumors and dashed hopes, it seems the beloved TV show will finally, for real, this time, be reincarnated on the big screen.
But don't break out your Cornballers yet: the film isn't set to hit theaters until 2011. How will you last that long? While you can treasure your DVD collection of all three seasons (or, for that matter, catch re-airs on IFC), you'll probably want to vary things up in the year-plus before we get sweet relief. Off the top of your head, you might know to watch Michael Cera in "Juno," but where can you find Judy Greer in a role as crazy as Kitty Sanchez? Will Arnett as a man as bumbling and self-involved as Gob? »

It has been less than a week since Anne Heche was announced as Ed Helms' co-star in the up-coming Cedar Rapids, but considering that the film has already started shooting, it comes as no surprise that three actors have been rapidly added to the cast, if not only to give the two leads some company on screen. According to Variety, Sigourney Weaver, John C. Reilly and Alia Shawkat (best known as Maeby Fünke from Arrested Development) have signed on to the Miguel Arteta-directed comedy about a Midwestern insurance agent who travels to a convention to try and save the jobs of his co-workers. While Shawkat's roles is still unknown, Weaver will be playing Helms' seventh-grade teacher, but it is not yet known how her character fits into the story. Reilly is playing a fellow convention-goer treating the event as his own personal vacation. The Reilly casting isn't really »

It’s sweeps month! It’s sweeps month! Craziness will happen! Casting will be stunty! Networks will actually try! Yes, Beatniks, it’s that magical time of year when whatever the actual televised content on procedurals—good or bad—it is highly unlikely to be indifferent. Those networks need our eyeballs, so if they want ’em, they'd better be willing to throw us a CSI triple crossover, resurrect long-lost castmembers, and double the Deschanel quotient! Joliet, Il - Dan Aykroyd is on a mission from vodka. The Blues Brother is cruising around the country in a Damnation Alley Rv promoting his Crystal Skull premium vodka. He rolled into my town and I was compelled to see the man.
He was appearing at a liquor store on a Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. What sort of crowd could he draw? I showed up at 1 p.m. with my four month old designated driver. There was already 400 people in line. Another 300 people end up behind us. Luckily Dan’s traveling partner announced that even though Dan was schedule to leave at 4:30, he’d be signing his bottles until the last person went home happy.
Why not? Each bottle cost $50. I’ve been told that there’s only two types of vodka in the world: Good vodka and vodka that makes you go blind and piss blood. »
