• Omarion Grandberry (David), J-Boog (Rico), Lil' Fizz (Rashann), and Raz B (Vic) were members of the now-split-up hip hop group B2K, and Marques Houston (Elgin) was a member of Immature and is now solo. Jarell is Marques' cousin. 'Chris Stokes' , who happens to be the writer for this movie, is a producer for both B2K and Marques Houston.
  
  
• An instructional dance video companion to the film called You Got Served, Take It to the Streets (2004) (V) was released shortly after the movie came out on DVD. The 1984 dance movie that was the main influence for "You Got Served", Breakin' (1984), also had its own instructional dance video companion released shortly after it came out on VHS.
  
  
• Wade and Max were originally one character. However it was later changed into two characters.
  
  
• All of the film's battles were very competitive in real life. The fight that breaks out during the first battle with Wade's crew was not in the script, but everyone was so mad at each other that they just started fighting. While filming the opening battle, the director would yell "cut", but Omarion Grandberry kept battling with Columbus Short. Omari does a back flip, while at the same time Columbus does a move that looks like he is pulling David up. This was not in the original choreography; it was a true battle.
