The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

There is no sex and/or nudity in Syriana

Violence & Gore

There are a few violent scenes in the movie. There are some scenes when bombs go off, followed by images of bloody bodies. There is a scene when a man gets beaten very badly. The most violent scene is when a man is tortured very brutally; this scene is quite graphic and bloody. There is also a drowning.

Profanity

The F-word is used twenty-one times (thirteen of which are in very rapid succession in an extremely short jump-cut segment). The S-word is used four times. There are a few other vulgar words are said as well, like S.O.B. and a**hole, but a few more religious profanities.

There is no drug use in the movie. You do see some people drinking various alcoholic drinks. Cigarettes also turn up, but seldom.

Almost all of the scenes listed under "violence" are quite intense. (Some are extremely intense.) There is also an abduction that will make viewers jump.
