Fun Stuff

Trivia:
Billy Crudup and Johnny Knoxville were expected to play the roles of Everett and Ben Stone before dropping out. The part later went to Luke Wilson. Aaron Eckhart was first cast in the role of Everett but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. more
Goofs:
Errors in geography: Some scenes of the Family Stone's "New England town" were actually filmed in the Borough of Madison, NJ. No problem there - it could pass for a New England town. However, an aerial shot of the town square clearly shows a New Jersey Transit train pulling out of the station -- definitely not something one would ever see in a New England town! more

Worse Than a Waste of Time, 3 May 2007
1/10
Author: davjrj from Seoul, Korea

This may be the worst film I have ever seen. The deaf, homosexual, interracial, gay adopting (I probably left something out)character was the most contrived, liberal and idiotic ploy ever forced on an audience. Dianne Keaton's comment about some guy popping her daughter's cherry was disgusting and unrealistic. All the unfunny jokes are mean spirited. I have lost any respect I had for the Coach for accepting such a role. He must be broke. I would recommend laying on a bed of nails or attempting to wear a beard of bees as alternatives to watching this film. Like many others have said, the film leaves you feeling bad. If you have a suicidal or homicidal reaction to the film you are right on target.
