Although the smurfs is an older animation it is a reminder that yes cartoons did use to be 2D and were cell created. To mention the smurfs to me is to remind me of getting up at about 7:30 in the morning about 14 years ago to watch cartoon connection on channel 7 to watch an array of cartoons put together for the entertainment of 4 to 12 year old. Watching Papa smurf and Smurfett along with all the others was good clean fun. Now that the dvds have finally been released it is a chance for the younger generations to enjoy the wholesome goodness of the smurfs. The smurfs have been immortalized in movies such as Donnie Darko which promptly reminded me that a child's mind does not care that smurfs are a fiction beyond imagination.
