The comedian talks about his voice work for the new animated TV special
Comedian Chris Rock has been making us laugh for years and years through his amazing stand-up comedy along with his film and television roles. Rock is now revisiting the popular animated character of Marty that he played in the Madagascar films with a new animated holiday special, Merry Madagascar, which premieres on Wednesday, November 18 at 8 Pm Et on NBC. Rock recently held a conference call to discuss this new special, and here's what he had to say.
So it seems like nowadays a lot more adult content comedians are jumping into family projects. What for you is the appeal in doing a crossover like this?
Chris Rock: I mean, well I'm obviously already in, you know, with DreamWorks and Jeffrey and all that. I just want to work with the people. They do really good stuff. »

The Twitter-Wood feed started following its first canine today, as recent hacking victim and "Eclipse" actress Jodelle Ferland tweeted a pic referencing her dog "Genevieve Ferland." According to @gena_fur's Twitter account, Genevieve recently turned five, hates nail clippers and dressed as a princess last year for Halloween.
Lack of clothing was on the minds of two other "Twilight" series actors, though, as Tinsel Korey seems to have not yet found a dress for the "New Moon" premiere, and Charlie Bewley reported on his love of not wearing anything. Remarkably, I made none of this up. Check it out, along with an award Arnold Schwarzenegger recently presented to Kirk Douglas, a scandalous "Full House" photo and the reason "Iron Man 2" will show up to theaters late if it gets delayed. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for November 6, 2009.

Back in April we reported on news from the Sony ShoWest presentation that the studio was developing a script for a third Men in Black movie, something which built on the rumors from over a year ago that franchise stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones were interested in suiting up for some alien escapades once more. Fast forward to now and an update has come out that Men In Black 3 has found its writer in the form of Tropic Thunder screenwriter, Etan Cohen (not to be confused with one half of the famous Coen brothers, Ethan).
Variety is reporting that Columbia Pictures (which Sony owns) has tapped Cohen to pen the script, but beyond that no deals have been made for either Smith or Jones to reprise their roles. Although I’d be very surprised if the studio didn’t have talks going on with the two stars »

Men in Black was pretty entertaining, as well as a big money-maker for Columbia Pictures. On the other hand, the sequel may have been profitable, but it was about as much fun as an alien rectal probe.
Here’s hoping the third 'Men in Black' installment falls somewhere between those two. According to Variety, Columbia has hired Etan Cohen to pen Men in Black 3, adding to the list of high-profile assignments currently sitting on the comedy writer’s desk.
Cohen has a Sherlock Holmes project with Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell in development at Columbia. His recent output includes Tropic Thunder, which was both critically acclaimed and a box office hit last year, as well as the animated Madagascar: Escape to Africa. Cohen also wrote Idiocracy and for the television show King of the Hill.

Funnyman Andy Richter says that his two children William Oscar, 8 ½, and Mercy Josephine, 4, have well-developed senses of humor — but what’s comedy to them isn’t comedy to most adults!
“All you have to do to make them laugh is throw pee and poop into the conversation or make fart noises,” Andy tells Babble. “They love that.”
“When my son started to get to the age of liking jokes, every one we would make involved pee or poop or farting. We thought, ‘Oh my God, we’ve raised a frat-house monster.’ Then we took a »

Disney surprised a lot of tweeters this morning when the company announced its acquisition of Spider-Man and X-Men publishers Marvel Entertainment. Kevin Smith, Jeff Katz, Dax Shepard, and many others chimed in with thoughts on the purchase.
Elsewhere, the tweets are still trickling in from those remembering DJ Am, including renowned Vegas party-goer Paris Hilton. The list of tweets today was actually fairly thick to sort through, with all of these reactions, a photograph of a "Twilight" star biting into a horse and Bob Saget's response to a fan's request for him to tell the "Aristocrats" joke on Twitter. It's all below in the Twitter-Wood Report for August 31, 2009.

I snapped yesterday, readers. Warmoth clearly has an unnatural fixation on former "Full House"/"ER" star John Stamos. Look, I like Jesse and the Rippers as much as the next child of the '80s, but this madness has to stop. And so, in the interest of bringing your Daily TwitPics some variety, I put a temporary moratorium on Stamos-centric TwitPics. Warmoth tells me that Ice-t and Rose McGowan's puppy will benefit. Have mercy indeed...
So. Today's TwitPic. To be honest, I think I missed something here. Stamos and his fellow former "House" star Bob Saget had some sort of exchange involving dates and tattoos. I can't tell if these inked wrists belong to Stamos, or if they're some adoring fan showing an appreciation for Uncle Jesse. In the hopes that one of you is smarter than me -- not a challenge, I assure you -- I've included the related tweets after the jump, »

As you may recall from yesterday's Twitter-Wood, John Stamos called upon one of his Twitter fans to post a photo of his alleged Uncle Jesse-based tattoo. Well today that tweeter responded in kind, and the wrist tattoos are linked to at the top of the report for all to see now.
In other tweets, Robert Rodriguez gleefully celebrated his confirmed actors for "Machete," calling out Jessica Alba and Robert De Niro. As it turns out, the director has his own Twitter fan in Dane Cook, who's read the script. Kristen Bell, meanwhile, claims to have been reading "hacked" tweets coming out of her account. In what may be a related event, Dax Shepard called out a poser using the fake name @IMkristenBeII (note how two upper case i's can resemble two lowercase L's), who tried to break up with him. You can check out all that drama and more below. »

Tom Felton sounds like he'll be lightening up his mood a bit for his next non-"Harry Potter" project. The normally moody-on-screen actor who plays Draco Malfoy will be jumping into Jonah Hill's "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" sequel "Get Him to the Greek" alongside Hill and Russell Brand, according to his Twitter updates.
Elsewhere in our feed, the Twitter-Wood report joins John Stamos' former "Full House" cast members Bob Saget and Dave Coulier in wishing the well-groomed actor a happy birthday. The "ER" star's own bday post snagged today's Twitter Pic of the Day, which I've inserted below via Saget's re-tweet and well-wishing. If you ever wanted to see how great Stamos' hair looked early on in life, now is your chance. Check it out, along with Richard Kelly's computer problems, an explosion from F. Gary Gray's new film and more. It's all in the Twitter-Wood Report »

DreamWorks Animation’s Oobermind has enlisted three new superheroes, with Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill lending their voices to the animated comedy. Variety reports that Ferrell is replacing Robert Downey Jr. in the title role of a supervillain whose dastardly dreams come true after defeating good-guy rival Metro Man (Pitt). Finding life boring without an adversary, Oobermind creates Titan (Hill), a superhero who also wants to be a villain, forcing Oobermind to switch sides.
The three actors join the already signed Tina Fey, who voices the reporter tasked with keeping track of the city’s confusing superhero situation. Oobermind will be directed by Tom McGrath, co-helmer of the popular Madagascar franchise. The project would have marked the first major animation role for Downey, Jr., who exited due to scheduling conflicts.
Oobermind will be released in Fall 2010 and will be distributed in stereoscopic 3-D. »

Earlier it’s been reported that Robert Downey Jr. will voice the role of a supervillain in DreamWorks Animation’s “Oobermind,” but the news is that Will Ferrell has been set to replace Downey, who has left the production due to scheduling conflicts.
Except that, DreamWorks find new superheroes for the comedy – Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill. So, Ferrell, Pitt and Hill join Tina Fey, already onboard to play the reporter tasked with keeping track of the city’s confusing superhero situation.
Plot Summary: When super villain Oobermind (Ferrell) defeats his archrival Metro Man (Pitt), the world should be his oyster. But instead, Oobermind falls into total despair. It turns out that life without a rival is life without a point for him. So, he creates a new superhero rival, Titan (Hill). Unfortunately, the new hero wants to be a super villain, too. Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill have joined the cast of DreamWorks Animation's Oobermind, report the trades. Ferrell replace Robert Downey Jr. in the comedy that will also feature the voice of Tina Fey. Ferrell plays the title role of a supervillain who imagines all his dastardly dreams coming true after defeating good-guy rival Metro Man (Pitt), only to find life quite boring without an adversary. To fill the void, Oobermind creates a new superhero, Titan (Hill), who also wants to be bad, forcing Oobermind to switch sides. Fey will play the reporter tasked with keeping track of the city's confusing superhero situation. Oobermind, produced by Lara Breay and Denise Nolan Cascino, is being directed by Tom McGrath, co-helmer of the Madagascar films. Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, and Jonah Hill have been cast in Oobermind, DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming production about a super-villain who trades sides.
Variety reports that the trio of box office draws will join Tina Fey, who will voice a reporter trying to keep track of the increasingly-convoluted superhero situation. Due in fall 2010, Oobermind revolves around a super villain who achieves his career-long goal of defeating his heroic rival Metro Man. Unfortunately, after his nemesis is vanquished, he finds life to be boring, so he creates a new good guy named Titan to fight.
Titan, however, wants to be a villain as well, which forces the one-time bad guy to become the mankind’s protector instead. Metro Man and Titan will be voiced by Pitt and Hill, respectively. Ferrell will play the titular super villain, taking over a role Robert Downey Jr. had been scheduled to play.

We're officially looking forward to Oobermind, the tale of a supervillain who finds his existence dull after defeating his goodie nemesis, but we got a bit of a shock today when we learned that our best mate Robert Downey Jr. has had to bow out of the film due to scheduling conflicts, and has been replaced by Will Ferrell. He's joined in turn by Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill, as well as previously announced cast member Tina Fey. Robert Downey Jr won't be voicing the title character in DreamWorks Animation's Oobermind after all. Variety reports that Will Ferrell has replaced Downey Jr. in Dwa's response to Pixar's The Incredibles. No word on why Downey decided to drop out of the project. Aside from the story being a superhero satire, he was a large reason I was interested in the project, But to combat the bad news, DreamWorks has also revealed that Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill will also be providing voices for the project. Both names are not only typical casting decisions from DreamWorks Animation, but have both previously voiced characters for Dwa features. The superhero comedy project formerly titled Master Mind is being produced by Ben Stiller, written by Alan J. Schoolcraft and Brent Simons., and directed by Tom McGrath, co-helmer of the Madagascar films. When super villain Oobermind (Ferrell) defeats his arch-rival Metro Man (Pitt), the »

Les Paul's death topped the list of trending topics on the Twitter-Wood feed today, and Penn Jillette, Neil Gaiman and Steve Agee were among those sharing their reflections on the music figure's passing.
