Being that this is the only "true" one-man show Anden has done, I guess
he does pretty well; I'll say right away that I loathe the comedians
that get up on a stage and sing five to ten musical numbers and then
we're supposed to cheer and think it's fantastic. Personally, I think
that's for the older crowds; 60-70 year-olds. I don't mind music, I
don't have any problem with musicals, but: *please* keep the music off
a stand-up stage. Those two things just don't mix. However, Anden knows
this, and instead of forcing us to sit through one bad musical number
after another, he only plays three tracks, two of which we already
know(assuming "we" have heard the stuff he did on the radio a few years
ago, also available on the CD that is very much worth the money called
"Hvad Snakker Du Om?") and the third of which being equally as good as
the first two, as well as most of the other music that Anden has done.
The stand-up stuff is mostly good, but a lot of it just seems tired,
and too much of it just doesn't stand repetition, rendering the show
hard to sit through more than once(which, in my opinion, any show
should be able to stand; otherwise, what's the reason for buying it on
DVD or VHS?). Some of the stuff is gold, and more than a few of his
jokes have become regular "in-jokes" between me and my closest friends.
There is no doubt about it; when Anden has something, he really can
make us laugh... the problem is, in this show, he doesn't have too
much. He milks the good jokes that he does have, but on repeated
viewings they start to seem few and far between. There are a few
excellent jokes scattered throughout it, but they are too few and, yes,
too far between. Also, I may be too sensitive, but I can't stand
Anden's character, Stewart Stardust, in this show. Yes, he can be fun;
in small doses and when we don't have to see him all that much. Hvad
Snakker Du Om? the CD, good. "Jul På Vesterbro", great. Here, he is
very annoying and we instantly hope he gets off the stage, fast. The
same goes for Luccas Berggren, at least to some extent, but luckily, he
*does* get off the stage fairly fast. Another thing that bothers me a
little about this show is that, while I agree that Anden is funny, even
when he goes over the line, which he does do on a regular basis, that
in this, he goes too far over the line and he does it a little too
often; especially in the form of the character Stewart Stardust. I did
like a lot of the jokes, though, and I thought it was pretty clever
with the one-man show "with guest stars". All in all, a good show, by
an energetic Anden, but just a few too many bad things bring it down.
Despite of that, I think that any fan of aggressive stand-up and/or
Anden should see it at least once(well, possibly only once). I
recommend it to any fan of Anden and/or aggressive stand-up. 8/10
