Author: Scott LeBrun from Winnipeg, Canada

In Chicago, a team of electricians come to an old building to shut down a power source. However, what they find is an abandoned laboratory and one of the team accidentally opens a portal to, you guessed it, another dimension. They all end up in this other dimension where a race of spider people, ruled over by a queen spider, make life miserable for the people that are left.

Routine, forgettable, but still basically watchable, this is no more and no less than what people could expect. The writing and acting ain't too hot, but it's not completely inept. It's got its fair share of gore, albeit of the alien variety. (The spider people shoot black goo everywhere when they get shot or stabbed.) The movie takes its cheese ball premise seriously, perhaps too seriously; more humor could have helped. But, in the end, action scenes aren't badly done, and the movie is at least not boring. It hits the ground running and keeps up a decent pace. A weary looking Richard Grieco heads a cast also including Kate Greenhouse and familiar face Colin Fox.

Of course, this movie isn't completely free of knowingly winking at the audience with its final shot. (It certainly also touches upon expected clichés adequately.) You'll know what I mean when you see it. It's moderately enjoyable stuff.
