This is a very funny mockumentary about a fictional teen singing sensation, Tildy St. John. In many ways, Tildy is like a combination of all the recent trashy young "sensations" that have filled our magazines, televisions and the internet. Because of this, although the film is very insightful and funny, you can't help but feel a bit sad because you assume what you're seeing isn't too far from truth! Unlike most films, you learn up front that the film maker apparently was killed during the filming, so this isn't kept secret. What you see, then, is some of the footage he allegedly made before this tragedy.
His first interview is with "mom" played by Katey Sagal (from "Futurama" and "Married With Children"). She's great in the part, playing a loud-mouthed and trashy ex-prostitute. Be forewarned, though, as she definitely uses a lot of gutter language--which, in hindsight, is probably appropriate for the part.
The second interview is with the not particularly bright uncle, who brings Tildy to her first filmed interview. Tildy is literally unconscious and only wakes up after she violently retches. Fortunately, unlike many recent independent film makers, they chose NOT to show her puking--a definite plus as far as I am concerned!! From there, Tildy goes on to expound upon her brilliant insights into life and success.
There's a lot more to it than this as well as strong indications as to what happened in the "accident" with the film maker. Very clever and very watchable--with songs just good enough to convince you they're real and family that is like the Spears, Lohan and Anna Nicole's families rolled into one--along with a touch of the Hillbilly Bears!
