666: Sequels Gone Wrong

12 October 2009 9:37 AM, PDT | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

When a horror movie finds success at the box office, it's almost guaranteed to get a sequel. And that sequel often becomes more sequels, which have an unfortunate tendency for becoming increasingly stale. By the time a horror franchise reaches a sixth installment, it's usually operating in zombie mode (meaning, crying out for a beheading).

In less than two weeks, Saw VI heads to theaters — with no plans of wrapping up the series. Saw VII is already in pre-production and plans are in place for Saw VIII. If the Saw franchise has any chance of continuing, it had better learn from the mistakes of other "part six" horror sequels.

Check out 666: Sequels Gone Wrong, where we offer six critical lessons Saw VI can learn from other long-running horror franchises.

Blog: Repo! for the Rap Crowd?

9 July 2009 11:06 AM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Actor/Rapper Kirk Jones aka Sticky Fingaz has dabbled in the horror genre quite a bit. Perhaps best known as the small screen version of Blade in SpikeTV's short-live Blade: The Series, Sticky's been seen in House Of The Dead 2, Nite Tales, and Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood.

Now he's jumped behind the camera to write and direct his first feature, A Day In The Life - "the first film told entirely in rap." Could this be Repo! for the hip-hop crowd?

So why am I posting this since the film isn't exactly "horror?" A: That's why it's going in my blog section. B: This is just too entertaining not to share.

A Day In The Life was just released on July 7th via Lionsgate, with the DVD available here. Enjoy... »
