• Revealing mistakes: When the Indian kidnappers are riding through the desert, just before they return to the cave where they are hiding out, a dirt road is clearly visible running from upper right to lower left across the entire screen.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When Samuel speaks to the bird sitting next to him, the bird has a yellow plastic ring around its right ankle.
  
  
• Continuity: Near the end, when Dot takes Lily in her arms and brushes the hair out of her sister's face, Lily's hair goes from brushed back behind the ears to hanging in her face between shots.
  
  

• Continuity: When Kayitah's body is found to be missing upon the stone upon which he was slain, the amount of blood on it increases substantially after the first shot of it.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: The "Brujo" scaling the cliff side is attached to a rappelling rope (visible in the three alternate endings).
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: In the end, when fire arrows are being shot towards the people on top of the mountain, one fire arrow hit a horse in its side. You can see that there is a string attached to the horse and that there are only a few sparks. In the next shot, there is a burning arrow sticking out of the horse when it's going down.
  
  
• Anachronisms: Even though the film is set in the 1800s, in one of the panned shots near the homestead, there are distinct, tightly-spaced logging roads visible on one of the distant hillsides.
  
  
• Continuity: When El Brujo puts the dirt in Lilly's mouth, the rope used to gag her is across her nose but in the next shot it disappears.
  
  
• Continuity: The amount of snow on the ground in the scenes at and near Maggie's ranch.
  
  
• Anachronisms: The pack horse wears a brass-buckled English leather halter (modern type of halter) throughout the movie.
  
  
• Continuity: The scar over Maggie's left eyebrow changes position and color throughout the movie.
  
  
• Factual errors: When reading from the Bible while her mother is ill, fighting the power of the Brujo, Dot is reading from Genesis, the first book of the Old Testament, but the Bible she is holding is opened near the end of the Old Testament.
