Deewangee is about a famous singer, Sargam(Urmila Matondkar) who, after many years, has an unexpected encounter with her old good friend Tarang(Ajay Devgan). Unfortunately the circumstance is due to Tarang being arrested for a crime he may or may not have committed. Raj(Akshaye Khanna) is a very good lawyer who has been hired by Sargam to defend Tarang and his case. This movie is based on Primal Fear, but it is still not a scene by scene copy.
I think performance-wise, Akshaye Khanna did an okay job in this movie, but he was nothing special. In my opinion, he pales in comparison to Richard Gere's performance in Primal Fear, even though Gere didn't even give his best performance in that film. I think Urmila did what she could do with her part to the best of her ability, but this was definitely not her best work. Ajay Devgan stole the show and actually gave a pretty good performance in the movie as the stuttering and clever Tarang.
The music was okay and nothing special and the storyline had some plot holes as well. I thought the movie was okay entertainment and it's the type of movie to watch when you're really bored or if it's raining outside.
