• Continuity: When Mark, Andrew, and Sam are walking thru the "backrooms" of the hotel, we see a man get out of their way by ducking behind a soda machine on the right-hand side. In the next shot, the man has disappeared.
  
  
• Factual errors: The closing credits thank "The Township of Morristown". No such municipality exists. There are the "Town of Morristown" and the "Township of Morris". Which was intended is not clear.
  
  
• Continuity: As Andrew is lying in his bed listening to his father's answering machine message, the wrinkles in his shirt change between shots.
  
  

• Continuity: In the first shot of the phone in Andrew's bedroom, the antennas are down. In the next (wide) shot, the are both up.
  
  
• Continuity: In the pool scene when everyone (except for Andrew) jumps into the pool, everyone emerges from the water during the wide shot, including Sam. However, on the next close-up of Sam it shows her still underwater, before submerging.
  
  
• Continuity: When Andrew goes into his father's bedroom and wakes him up to talk, his father puts on his glasses. In the next shot, his glasses are back on top of the newspaper.
  
  
• Continuity: In the scene at the breakfast table the night after the party, in one shot the milk jug is placed so that the label is not shown, in the next shot the label is shown and in the third shot, the label is missing again.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: When Diego is in the hallway at the motel, some of the production crew are reflected in one of the mirrors in the top right of one of the shots.
  
  
• Continuity: When the girl is on Andrew's lap at the party, his friend Mark has a cigarette in his hand in the background, but it disappears in the next shot.
  
  
• Continuity: When Andrew sees the doctor for the first time, he is wearing glasses which he takes off and put back on again. However in the next shot they are gone, and he puts them back on again (again).
  
  
• Continuity: When Andrew in speaking with Kenny the policeman, there is a rainstorm in the background. The rain is evident in the headlights of the police car, yet Andrew and Kenny appear to not be getting wet.
  
  
• Continuity: The setting is fall, but one scene in front of Mark's house shows a tree with spring blossoms in full bloom.
  
  
• Continuity: In the waiting room, the position of the red hair band on Sam's pinkie finger changes between shots.
  
  
• Continuity: In the boat, Albert's wife Fay starts off with a tea mug with a bird on it and Albert has a white mug with the periodic table on it, in the next shot the mugs are switched and in the final shot, the mugs are back to their original owners.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: You can see the reflection of a light in the water on the crane during the screaming scene. It is a very cloudy/stormy day, this would not have been visible otherwise.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: In the opening scene with Andrew in his L.A. bedroom, a gobo head (light stand) is reflected in the top of the fan blades.
  
  
• Continuity: When Mark takes Andrew to "show him something" Dave is sitting on the counter, but when Andrew and Mark enter the backroom Dave can be seen sitting on one of the couches.
  
  
• Continuity: After Andrew, Mark and Sam leave the ark wearing garbage bags to protect them from the rain, you can see that Sam's pink sweater is dry under the garbage, but was a dark, wet pink when they were inside the ark from being out in the rain earlier. The sweater could not have dried while they were inside the ark.
  
  
• Continuity: At the bar, the amount of beer Sam has greatly decreases between shots.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When Andrew lies in bed the morning after the party, sunlight is supposedly beaming through holes in the curtains. However the light beams are at varying angles obviously from several light sources.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: When Andrew is still in L.A., he opens the mirror and a camera is reflected in it.
  
  
• Continuity: After his mother's funeral, Andrew has a brief talk with his dad about headaches. At first, the skinnier end of the tie is longer but in the next shot, the fatter end is longer.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: When Largeman walks into the bathroom you can see behind him that the bedroom has no ceiling, and lights are visible.
  
  
• Continuity: When Large is turning off the drippy bathtub faucet in his mother's bathroom, a glass of milk can be seen behind the faucet. When we next see the faucet, the glass of milk is gone.
  
  
• Continuity: When Largeman is sitting in the doctor's office, a plaque appears and disappears on the wall next to the door.
  
  
• Continuity: When Mark and his mother are talking about the Real Estate tapes, when Mark says "You know what? I do apply myself every day, Mom." The shot cuts mid-sentence from a mid-shot with Mark holding his cigarette near his lap to a closer shot of Mark holding the cigarette near his head.
  
  
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Mark is robbing a grave and Jesse and Andrew are sitting on the grass watching him, Jesse begins talking about the book "Brave New World." He then states that the author of the book is Aldous Huxtable, when, in actuality, the author's name is Aldous Huxley.
  
  
• Continuity: When Sam and Andrew are in the bathtub, there is a small cup behind Sam. Later, when she gets up to get a cup to catch Andrew's tear, the cup behind her has disappeared and she puts the new cup where the "ghost" cup was.
  
  
• Continuity: When Andrew and Sam are sitting in the tub, at the start of the scene, Sam is leaning toward Large, and, when she jumps up to save his tear with a paper cup, she is leaning back, away from Andrew.
  
  
• Continuity: When Sam asks the bellhop why he assumes the girl they were watching was a prostitute, she mentions a line about Julia Roberts and the door behind her is left slightly open using the door lock hinged out. In the next shot and preceding shots before that the door is shut.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: Obvious dummy baby in the opening shot on the airplane.
  
  
• Continuity: When Andrew, Mark, and Sam have just arrived at the quarry and are walking toward us, you can just see headlights of an arriving car at the very edge of the frame in the background that looks like it pulls up beyond the motorcycle. When we cut back to the shot, the car is gone.
  
  
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Largemen first enters his father's office after the funeral to talk about his headaches, his father's glasses alternate locations on the desk. In some shots they are open on the table, in others they are not on the desk at all.
  
  
• Continuity: When Andrew walks into his father's bedroom, his father is asleep with his head turned to his right. When the camera pans out to both of them, his father's head is now turned to his left without movement.
  
  
• Factual errors: In the restaurant scene near the beginning, when the snotty customer asks for bread, Andrew Largeman replies they have none and explains this is because it is a Vietnamese restaurant. In fact, because of the French colonization of Vietnam in the mid 19th Century, French baguettes are a common staple in Vietnamese cuisine and any good Vietnamese restaurant would most likely have them in their kitchen.
  
  
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Sam's mom gets the Dobermans off of Andrew, we still hear them barking, even though their mouths are not moving.
  
  
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): About 10 minutes into the film, when Andrew Largeman is riding a motorcycle without head (helmet) or eye (goggle/glasses) protection, he is stopped by a Police Officer for speeding (only). New Jersey has both helmet and eye protection laws.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When Sam and Andrew first meet in the waiting room, there is a close-up of Sam's face smiling broadly, then relaxing her expression. She appears to do this twice, in exactly the same way, because the shot of her smiling the second time, is clearly just played/looped again, instead of her really smiling twice.
