My Baby's Daddy stars a stellar comic cast of Anthony Anderson, Eddie Griffin, and Michael Imperioli and is directed by Cheryl Dunye. The problem is it comes up short and disappointed a lot. I guess when 3 funny actors come together, we expect too much from them sometimes. However it comes to the point by delivering its message. Essentially, My Baby's Daddy is a reality check to us men. Of course when you're a successful man, who can laugh along with the jokes but seriously, this is an important message for older teens or misguided adults. My Baby's Daddy has a plot that can easily be compared the one of Three Men and a Baby. It starts with a colourful, animated beginning showing the forge of the friendship of G, Lonnie, and Dominic. As they grow up, we see their roots (still in animated form). When we join them in live action, a huge party is thrown at their place aka Uncle Virgil's house. They get with their girlfriends and all have a special night. During their jobs, they're all surprised. While G is training to become a professional boxer, we get pretty damn scared when he hears the news. Lonnie alternates 3 jobs of being a sanitation worker, a burger flipper, and a community referee. And finally Dominic is a music manager who as we see his job meets with two new white rappers. Nine months later, bam! All three kids are born on the same day. Only problem is one in a hospital, one in the convenience store of G's girlfriend's family, and the other in the living room of Dominic's girlfriend's place. Problems occur while they try to build their families including felons, broken relationships, breaking the law, awkward meetings, and lesbians basically said all in one nauseous blur. Through out the story, we see them struggle.Overall, My Baby's Daddy is okay. It has too many sub-plots and it runs slow. Even if it's 86 minutes, it runs very slow. The jokes are stale but time-to-time, there are some really funny ones including Kwik-E-Mart related jokes, bogus contracts, and baby store robberies. It's an average comedy, as it tries its best to balance the crap jokes with the good ones. More importantly though, it's a reality check and the ending is worth seating through the whole movie. My Rating: 6/10Eliason A.
