I don't know what it was. I don't know what brought me to anticipate this film so much. Maybe it's just me or maybe everyone feels the same but Hollywood Homicide was a Hollywood bust.Joe Galivan (Ford) and K. Calden (Hartnett) are two very different cops but are friends for many different reasons. One is a professional, smooth sharpshooter while the other uses his calm, inner peace to help in being a cop. (Can you guess which role goes with each actor?) They then are assigned to a case to track down a hip-hop nightclub shooting in which could be leaded by a rap group. As they go through their investigation, more and more people turn out bad and it leads to unsatisfying chase scenes with some decent action and good farces. The film goes through it slow and strongly stereotypes how blacks are which even I found a bit offending. I think what really kills the movie is the absolutely unnecessary sexual situations that are pro-longed to fill up time and only slow down the already lagging plot. They could have left these for deleted scenes but instead the director, Ron Shelton, had no concern for an action-rushing plot.Overall, Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett made Hollywood Homicide surprising bad. A lot of people expected a good Action/Comedy but it wasn't done very well. The stunts weren't that exciting. The action was mediocre and the comedy was pretty bad. I guess some learned a lesson not to expect comedy from Hartnett and even Ford (at least from this role). I found little chemistry between Ford and Hartnett. However there were some good jokes, only in random places however. The only thing that saves the film is its 20 to 30 minute climb to the climax, which is put into two separate chases with Ford and Harrison's characters. Only see this if you wanted to see how they failed to make a good movie. Oh, by the way, you need 2 hours on hand.My Rating: 6/10Eliason A.
