ok, i guess, if you have 2 hours to waste

i felt like the characters were stereotyped and not played to how the character was in the book. there was this spanish girl who in every scene was like, what's going on? in a thick accent. why was she there? bess was a complete airhead. and george didn't get a lot of lines. and i was really surprised to see in the opening scene "nancy" driving recklessly down the street weaving in and out of cars. this isn't fast and the furious 2! someone who wants to work for the law doesn't even want to obey it apparently. the actress wasn't even a strawberry blonde, something that was always pointed out in the book! and why wasn't ned nickerson in it as much as he should've been. nancy was a plain old blonde that seemed to throw around smart comments to get her way. i expected more from a modern thinking female role model. nancy didn't even really have to solve a crime really. maybe if i didn't like the series so much i could've just been like, oh a cute little disney movie, why don't i watch it. disney seems to take intelligent female characters from books and make them into completely different people. they aren't stupid, but they aren't as "real" as they are in the books. another example? princess diaries. although i liked the movie for julie andrews and anne hathaway, the movie is nothing like the book.

the thing that makes me worry is that girls (or boys too, to be politically correct) will be turned off to the books, seeing the way they're played in the movie. or the opposite, they'll read the book, but not like it cause it's not like the movie. disney! why must you do this?!!?
