January Jones Jumps With Nicolas Cage

28 October 2009 5:03 AM, PDT | Atomic Popcorn | See recent Atomic Popcorn news »

Just last week January Jones revealed that, while they were dating, Ashton Kutcher told her he didn’t think she’d be any good at the acting biz, and that she should call it quits.

Well, Jones certainly wasn’t deterred by the lack of support from Kutcher. Already having cemented her place as a TV starlet with her role on Mad Men, Jones is ready to take on the big screen.

Before making a name for herself with Mad Men, Jones had supporting roles in numerous movies including Love Actually, American Wedding, and Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. Jones has moved past being a supporting actress, signing on for starring roles in two films in the past week.

Last week Jones signed on for Dark Castle’s Unknown White Male with Liam Neeson and Diane Kruger, and it has now been revealed that she will also be starring with Nicolas Cage in Hungry Rabbit Jumps, »

The 'Unknown White Male' Nabs Diane Kruger and January Jones

26 October 2009 1:45 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

If I told you the next Dark Castle horror-thriller flick would star January Jones and Diane Kruger, you'd probably be interested. If I told you that the most recent Dark Castle horror flicks were Whiteout, Orphan, and Return to House on Haunted Hill ... you'd probably be a little less interested. But with the presence of two stunning blondes (and a half-decent concept), Dark Castle's Unknown White Male is starting to sound a little intriguing.

According to Variety, Ms. Jones and Ms. Kruger will join the very busy (and very lucky) Liam Neeson in Unknown White Male, which "centers on a man who awakens from a coma to find that someone else has assumed his identity, and no one, including his wife, believes him." The director is Jaume Collet-Serra, whom the horror freaks may remember from (Dark Castle) flicks like Orphan and House of Wax. The stunning Diane Kruger is best-known for her work in Troy, »

Betty Draper And Bridget Von Hammersmark: Together At Last

26 October 2009 7:55 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Five years ago, there is no way you would have been able to tell January Jones and Diane Kruger apart just by looking at their photos. Jones had a big part in American Wedding, of course, and Kruger was the most beautiful woman in history in Troy, but come one. They're both unbelievably gorgeous blondes with blue eyes who, until recently, were more likely to play eye candy than characters with real substance. But in 2009, of course, Jones and Kruger are Betty Draper and Bridget von Hammersmark, respectively, which means seeing the two of them together in a movie will be a real treat. Variety reports that they'll play two of the women in Liam Neeson's life as he tracks down an identity thief in Unknown White Male (yes, Neeson seems to be attempting to single-handedly rid the world of bad guys with every new film role he takes »

What's Your Favorite John Waters Moment?

5 September 2009 7:03 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

After 35 years of movies, John Waters has hinted that he might be leaving the biz soon. While talking to ArtInfo, he mentioned how financing for Fruitcake (the kids' flick that was to star Johnny Knoxville and Parker Posey) has fallen through twice and: "I want to do two more movies -- that's enough. I hope I can make two more."

I can't imagine a world free of fresh, new, campy, audacious, controversial, and wonderful Waters fare. It's like a world without Divine's "chocolatey" treats, which paved the way for Seann William Scott in American Wedding, a world without rectal recitals, which paved the way for a certain scene from Shortbus, a world where there's no hairspray to sing about, and no John Travolta cross-dressing mixed with Zac Efron mania. A world without "Demented Forever," Patty Hearst's film career, and, well, you get the hint.

Betty Draper Loves White Fang

21 July 2009 5:40 PM, PDT | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

I've been on a Mad Men bender. Nine episodes in the past three days. This decision was spurred on by a hugely thoughtful gift from a friend (1st and 2nd season) and the abundant Emmy nominations last week. Just as I began to watch Season 1 in marathon form -- I'd only seen some of it not being a regular until season 2 -- the publicity blitz for Season 3 (coming in August) started hitting.

This Interview interview with January Jones (aka "Betty Draper") is so cute.

Who knew that that Ethan Hawke wolfdog movie White Fang (1991) was that inspiring to little children? It made little January want to be an actor. Jones is so sneaky/fantastic as Betty Draper (she's almost too good in the role for you to notice how much she's doing... initially) that I must now thank the makers of White Fang for contributing to the wonder that is Mad Men. »

Six of the Worst Movie Proposals

20 June 2009 6:21 PM, PDT | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

This weekend Sandra Bullock returns for more romantic comedy in The Proposal, this time dragging along Ryan Reynolds for the other half of the “will they or won’t they” formula.  You can probably already guess the generic ending even before stepping foot in a theater, so it’s mostly just sit back and hope Reynolds pulls off another one-liner.

The predictable plot is par for the course with director Anne Fletcher, who walks down the aisle of another wedding rom-com after last year’s 27 Dresses.  However, this proposal is a working world pun on office offers and engagement exchanges.  Maggie (Bullock), a Canadian, has to get married in order to avoid being deported and losing her job at a New York City publishing firm.  She comes to a mutual agreement (well, blackmail) with Andy (Reynolds) to play up the nuptials until she secures her citizenship.  The rest of the »

Ask the Flying Monkey! (February 24, 2009)

23 February 2009 5:35 PM, PST | AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news »

Have a question about gay male entertainment? Ask the Monkey! (Please include your city and state and/or country)

Q: It seems like Robert Pattinson is attempting to sabotage his own success by talking about his poor hygiene habits etc. Perhaps he is just being very honest, which is refreshing. However, I am curious about his sexual orientation. I have seen him with his friend Tom Sturridge, and they seem very close, but I get the feeling that he is being told by his agent and the Twilight machine not to "come out" since his fans are predominantly young females. Haven't we gotten past all that by now? – Eileen, Gainesville, Virginia

A: First, Pattinson is reportedly straight, having been romantically linked with Nina Schubert, Katie Leung, and Camilla Belle; Sturridge is merely his best friend. And actually, I believe him. Why? Because – as you say – he is so damn honest »
