Much of the comic book Twitterverse had opinions on Anthony Hopkins newly announced casting as Odin in Marvel's upcoming "Thor" movie. A few more, including Jeff Parker and Andy Diggle seemed to be partial to him over Brian Blessed, who had previously been mentioned for the role.
Elsewhere in the Twitter Report feed, I don't usually include non-comics-related talent, but director Paul McGuigan mentioned that he and Grant Morrison are working on new project together in Scotland. No word on whether this is something for comics, film or both—but the Twitter Report will be watching. Check that out after the jump, along with a great Judge Dredd mask, how one DC editor is dressing for Halloween and which zombie film Ed Brubaker has been watching.
It's all in the Twitter Report for October 30, 2009.
@paul_mcguigan Writer Grant Morrison and I are working on a very interesting project based in Scotland. »

Eli Roth and Brad Pitt in Inglourious Basterds
Photo: The Weinstein Co. / Universal Pictures Organized into five chapters and running at 2 hours and 32 minutes, it took me two screenings of Quentin Tarantino's World War II re-imagining Inglourious Basterds to completely formulate my opinion. Originally I found myself unnerved by the running time and bored in the middle of major scenes. I don't know if it was the improved theater setting or just a matter of being better prepared, but my second screening was true joy as the majority of my earlier complaints were no longer a concern. I was able to sit back and enjoy every minute, although I still won't say it ends up being the "masterpiece" the film's final line of dialogue claims it to be, but if you are a fan of Tarantino you would be hard-pressed not to enjoy yourself and I expect many to come out absolutely loving it. »

Oh, Rob, you take a mighty big risk giving your sophomore film a title like Suck. Either you are supremely confident or supremely foolish ... and my money is on confident.
Canada’s Rob Stefaniuk earned himself a small but dedicated cult with his debut scifi comedy - Phil The Alien - a cult which he now looks ready to expand upon with his sophomore film Suck, a vampire comedy slated to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. And it’s not just any rock and roll comedy, either ... no, this one boasts songs written by Stefaniuk himself, a soundtrack by John Kastner from The Asexuals and The Doughboys - who you probably don’t know but are very, very good nonetheless - and cameo appearances by Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Carol Pope, Henry Rollins and Moby along with the likes of Malcolm McDowell. Stunt casting? Hell, »

About midway through Push (2009), I lost interest in trying to figure out exactly what was going on with the ever growing roster of psychic characters and multiplying plot threads and turned my mental faculties off to wallow in the vibrant visuals and well executed action sequences. Director Paul McGuigan (Wicker Park, Lucky # Slevin) has attempted to capitalize on the comic book/super hero craze that has gained hold of Hollywood as of late seemingly taking inspiration from NBC's Heroes (the X-Men movies are another obvious influence). Unfortunately he also appears to have inherited some of the show's impenetrable plot and the notion that if a few participants are good, more must be better. The following is a high level recap though considering the amount of convolution, I very well may have gotten something wrong: Kira (Camilla Belle) is a "pusher" (able to implant memories in other's minds) and the only »

Call me a freak, but the first thing I envision when I think of Rose Byrne, is the steamy hot love scene she shared with Brad Pitt, in Troy. Any girl held captive and seduced by Brad Pitt in that role, would have been considered lucky in my book! However sensational, Byrne has had a lot more to offer Hollywood, than her role as the Trojan beauty. I.ve been impressed with the talented and beautiful Aussie, since her dynamic performance, in 2004.s Wicker Park. She was equally captivating in... »

The players: Director: Paul McGuigan, Writer: David Bourla, Cast: Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning, Camilla Belle, Cliff Curtis, Djimon Hounsou
Facts of interest: McGuigan also directed "Wicker Park."
The plot: Three individuals with special powers are on the run from a ruthless government agency with evil intentions.
Our quick thoughts: In Paul McGuigan’s sci-fi thriller “Push,” three individuals with great powers are on the run from a ruthless government agency trying to capture and turn them into deadly weapons. But what sounds like a film filled with awesome action and suspense is in reality not as captivating as I originally thought. »

Dakota Fanning is the Littlest Action Hero in this disappointingly generic shoot-’em-up dressed up with a few paranormal frills about regular people with capital-p Powers whom the government experiments on, hoping to turn them into weapons, until they escape and start causing havoc. Fanning (The Secret Life of Bees), a street urchin who can see the future, teams up with telekinetic Chris Evans (Street Kings), whose charm is wasted here, to find a missing suitcase -- crammed with, supposedly, $6 million -- that was allegedly stolen by Camilla Belle (10,000 B.C.), who can “push” ideas into people’s heads, when she made her great government escape. Or did she? The concept that notions can be “pushed” into one’s head seems like the ideal excuse for a mind frak, but no such luck here, as the wide-open possibilities this world presents are all but disposed of as of less interest »

After the "Telekinetic Gun Fight" clip from "Push" made its round earlier, four more clips from the Paul McGuigan's riveting action-thriller have been found. One of the new clips, entitled "Psychic Showdown", was outed exclusively via Apple, while the rest were found by a French site, Allocine.
In "Psychic Showdown", Chris Evans' Nick Gant is involved in a fist fight with another man who has similar power to his, while others are firing bullets at them. The next clip is called "Lead Us to the Girl" where Nick and Dakota Fanning's Cassie try to convince Emily Hu to lead them to the girl they are looking for by showing a bead and Cassie's ability.
The "Help You Remember", on the other hand, focuses on Djimon Hounsou's Henry and Camilla Belle's Kira. In it, Henry reveals Kira's past and tells her that he wants to help her remember. »

Adam, a film following the love life of a man with Asperger's doesn't exactly sound like the next Little Miss Sunshine, until you take into account that it is a love story. Ok, maybe not the next Little Miss Sunshine, but maybe the next Once. Hr reports that Fox Searchlight is in the process of buying the film. Quite a few distributors were interested. The movie stars Hugh Dancy (Evening), as the autistic man and Rose Byrne (Wicker Park) as his love interest. The film was written by newb, Max Mayer. Although Adam wasn't exactly considered a big contender coming into the festival, it obviously impressed enough people to be one of the first purchases. Of course, last year Fox Searchlight bought up Choke, which never blew up or garnered good reviews, so who knows how Adam will turn out. »
