OK, so I grabbed this based on the fact that Charles Busch was behind "Psycho Beach Party" which is one of my favorite flicks, and I was not terribly disappointed, but this isn't quite as much fun as that film. More research will be required on my part to see who Charles Busch is and see if there are any more movies floating around out there, but since he always seems to want to dress in drag, maybe I might not want to know? We'll see. Anyway, like PSB, this takes place in the 60's, an aging Diva (Busch) is stuck in a loveless marriage and has a gigolo (Priestly). She also has a daughter who is very DEVOTED to daddy (maybe too much so but at least we're spared from seeing TOO much, this ain't no John Waters film). She also has a son that seems to be very confused. About a lot of things. Anyway, the hubby gets killed off with a poisoned suppository (yes, really) and the wife is free to do her thing, until, of course, she finds out he left al his money to the maid (Nora Dunn, of SNL). Things twist and turn as the children plot to get mom to confess, and things turn out to be way different from what they expected. And things are not and WERE not what they seemed. I liked this OK but it's no wild and crazy romp like Psycho Beach Party, that's for sure. Anyway I'll be looking into see more about Charles Busch, as I said, I'm not sure I want to know a whole lot more than I've garnered from watching these two flicks but I'll look anyway. A decent tongue-in-cheek flick, but much more sedate than its predecessor.
