The man responsible for the terror that was Captain Ivan Drago in Rocky IV and the joy that was He-Man in Masters of the Universe revealed to MTV that he’s in talks for an unnamed part in the upcoming Conan reboot. Lundgren caught MTV New’s attention with this little ditty:
“I’ve talked to the producers about doing something for Conan”
As to whether anything was definite, the man went on to say:
“It’s too early”
Regarding a question about when he might know for sure, he responded:
“probably next year”
He-Man need not go on.
Lundgren will also be appearing in the upcoming Sly Stallone-directed mercenary flick, The Expendables, which has the same production team as Conan. He-Man can network.
The new Conan is to be directed by Marcus Nispel (who replaced Brett Ratner) and penned by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. Nispel helmed Friday the 13th »

Matthew McConaughey is looking forward to his forties - insisting life gets better the older he gets.
The Sahara star turned the big 4-0 on Wednesday and spent the day reminiscing with friends and family at a wild house party.
But the actor isn't concerned about approaching middle-age - branding himself a "late bloomer" who's got so much to look forward to.
On his MySpace.com blog, he writes, "The 30's were good to me and I'm really looking forward to my 40's, 'cause I'm a late bloomer.
"Got everything I need for a perfect 40th…a happy and healthy lady, son, and another baby on the way." »

/Film pointed us to a detailed breakdown for the characters in Marcus Nispel’s reboot of Conan The Barbarian, which is scheduled to begin shooting in Bulgaria in February. Nispel brought us Friday the 13th (2009) and The Very Best of Cher: The Video Hits Collection. If he can slip the right character into that “If I Could Turn Back Time” outfit, I’ll go see Conan in the theaters 32 times. However, dress that outfit on the wrong character and who knows how many cities will burn?
IMDb lists Roland Kickinger as being rumored to play the barbarian. You might remember him from such films as Terminator Salvation (he played the T-800’s body) and Lethal Weapon 4. Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, the gentlemen credited with writing Conan, worked together previously penning the scripts for Sahara and Dead of Night.

They often go overlooked in the discussion of the great director-star pairings, but there's very little doubt that Pedro Almodóvar gets the best out of Penélope Cruz or that she raises the level of his films. True, he's great as it is and Cruz has been better in general in recent years (if you thought she was good winning the gold in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, you should see Elegy), but together, it's just one of those magical combinations that really doesn't come along all that often.
Their latest collaboration is Broken Embraces (Los Abrazos Rotos), and once again, Cruz is building a case for Academy Award consideration. If she does get a nomination, it would be her third in four years, following Vicky Cristina and Almodóvar's Volver. She sure has left Sahara sufficiently behind her, hasn't she?

Chicago – We know that remakes aren’t supposed to get us excited, especially when they’re remakes of classics like George A. Romero’s “The Crazies,” but this preview totally works and we just had to share. Starring Timothy Olyphant, Radha Mitchell, Danielle Panabaker, Preston Bailey, and Joe Anderson. It was written by Scott Kosar and Ray Wright and directed by Breck Eisner (“Sahara”). The film opens on February 26th, 2010.

No longer merely a punk band made up exclusively of my ex-girlfriends, Breck Eisner has remade the 1973 George Romero film, The Crazies. The movie follows the inhabitants of a sleepy lil’ Iowa town who go crazy and die. Why? You’ll have to watch the film to find out (or at least the original).
The Crazies stars Timothy Olyphant (Hitman) Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill) and Danielle Panabaker (Friday the 13th). George Romero, the director of the 1973 original, also brought the world the much-celebrated horror classic, Night of the Living Dead and all its subsequent sequels.
The folks over at FilmDrunk have pointed us to the trailer of The Crazies remake. Take a looksie:
Breck Eisner (who must be very tired of always seeing parenthetical references to his father, former Disney CEO Michael Eisner), claims the dubious honor of having directed Sahara, a movie that lost between $78Mm and $105Mm, depending on who you ask. »

I hereby dub this day Nutty Trailer Day and in honor of Nutty Trailer Day, here’s some new trailers for Saw VI, The Crazies and Red Cliff.
Saw VI is due out October 23rd and the semi-long running horror series is guaranteed to startle you, but the big question remains: Is it still worth admission? Considering it’s the only viable horror franchise that’s not a reboot, the answer is yes.
The film is directed by Kevin Greutert with a script from Marcus Dunsta and Patrick Melton with Tobin Bell returning as Jigsaw.
Here’s the trailer:

-- John Woo is set to bring his Chinese action epic "Red Cliff" stateside on November 20, 2009, and there's a brand new trailer to prove it. I'm still wondering how he'll fit his trademark hero-with-two-pistols into the period piece, but I'm keeping an open mind. (Apple)

This is a busy year for George Romero. Only two years removed from his last zombie epic, Diary of the Dead, Romero has been making the rounds at film festivals with his latest zombie flick, Survival of the Dead. However, there's another Romero movie out there as well, a remake of Romero's 1973 movie The Crazies, though Romero is only serving as Executive Producer. Breck Eisner (Sahara) is directing this Crazies from a script by Ray Wright (Pulse) and, no stranger to remakes, Scott Kosar (The Amityville Horror and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre).
While the remake is similar in plot to the original — townspeople slowly go insane after a contaminant is released in the city's water supply — both the new poster and the trailer of the remake look ironically more in keeping with the zombie genre than the Romero original, which focused more on the military's inability to control the situation »

Though it's easy to look at Breck Eisner's previous film, Sahara and expect very little from his upcoming remake of The Crazies, this new trailer definitely has its put together put together.
The movie is based on a George Romero horror classic and while I have no idea how much money Romero has stashed away, I hope it's a lot. Nobody has worked as consistently in the horror genre as he has over the past 40 years, and he's influenced everyone who has followed him. Because of the budget here, we can expect this remake to have certain advantages of Romero's film, and putting Timothy Olyphant in the starring role is a good start.
Like a lot of films in the genre, it doesn't look like you'll have to do much thinking, and that's Ok. As for this trailer, it's got a handful of memorable moments, which is a high percentage, »

Well I can already tell that Breck Eisner's The Crazies is probably going to get accused of looking too similar to various other movies, in particular, M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening... and that comparison is certainly not doing it any favours. It also could be classified as a zombie movie of sorts, but of course, it's not the undead kind, it's the violent infection kind, a la 28 Days Later or The Signal. The fact that it is a remake of a George A. Romero movie is probably only going to increase the use of the Z-word. Putting all of that aside, does the first trailer for The Crazies look decent? I'd have to say, yes it does. What I like about the original is the fact that it focuses on survivors trying to stay alive in a town that has been quarantined by the military. This seems to be staying true to that, »

"The Crazies", a remake to director George A. Romero's 1973 film, has just got its first trailer. Providing glimpses on the life in a small town before and after the inhabitant turn into mindless killers, the sneak peek from Apple exposes first look at Timothy Olyphant's David Dutton and Radha Mitchell's Judy Dutton.
Sheriff David Dutton and his wife Judy are living the American Dream in a small Midwestern town. But, what seems to be a picture-perfect life goes horribly wrong when a mysterious toxin pollutes the water supply. The residents begin to succumb to an uncontrollable urge for violence and the horrific bloodshed escalates into anarchy.
As the military uses deadly force in an attempt to contain the epidemic to stay in the town, the couple finds themselves trapped in a once idyllic town they can no longer recognize along with an assistant at the medical center »

Zombies are back, though I’m not sure they ever left. On the eve of Zombieland hitting theaters, a trailer for “The Crazies” has finally gone live. As we reported on Wednesday, the film is a remake of a 1973 George Romero film of the same name. The remake stars Timothy Olyphant and takes place in a small Iowa town where a toxin contaminates the water supply, turning everyone completely crazy. The trailer and my thoughts on it after the jump.
Here’s the trailer. Click here for HD.
Maybe I’m a sucker, but this looks interesting to me. It will likely have some run of the mill zombie moments, but the villagers look a lot smarter than your ordinary hell-raised zombie. They’re behavior is reminiscent of the villagers in the game Resident Evil 4, who are infected with an actual creature called Los Plagos. They were completely deranged and murderous, »

Whomever edited that great 'No Signal' montage of cell phone failure in horror movies did so too soon. There's a primo example of it right here in the new trailer for The Crazies, directed by Breck Eisner (Sahara director and Micheal Esiner's son) and loosely based on George Romero's 1973 thriller. Perhaps very loosely based? Though there's a definite Romero vibe to this trailer, the basic character set is a bit different from the original and the overall feel is (unsurprisingly) of a modern studio horror film rather than the independent, homegrown original. Apple has the trailer debut, in which we see Timothy Olyphant's sheriff and Radha Mitchell's doctor as a midwestern couple whose life goes more than a little insane when townfolk around them start behaving oddly. As in Romero's version, the culprit appears to be military in origin, and some very violent methods are brought to »
