He is Hal Sparks, an actor/improv comedian.

In theory, the amount of heat and gravitational pull from a star, even one that size, would be enough to pull in and vaporize the water around it. We should have seen a very large column of steam rising out of the river, but it is a detail that was probably over looked or not even considered.

Basically, there are three different cuts available throughout the world. First of all there is the well-known theatrical version (1) that has been altered prior to the British cinema release by Sony and unfortunately found its way to nearly all PAL-DVDs (2): One headbutt has been replaced with a normal punch. The US-DVD is uncut. You can find a detailed comparison with pictures here.

Then, just in time for the theatrical release of Spider-Man 3 an Extended Cut (3) has been released to the home media market that runs approx. 8 minutes longer than the theatrical version. This extended version features several different kind of new scenes: story extensions, romance, action but in principle this extended version is only worth for the die-hard fan. A detailed comparison between the theatrical versiond and the Extended Cut can be found here.

And by the way, the European versions of the Extended Cut are still altered in the same way as the theatrical version, thanks to the BBFC and Sony.
