What's your favorite tennis-related movie moment?

6 September 2009 12:00 PM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

With All About Steve, Extract, and Gamer double-faulting with our critics, it looks like our best bet for high drama this weekend might be on the tennis courts at the U.S. Open in Flushing, Queens. Seriously, that Oudin-Sharapova match yesterday was just about the best girlfight I've seen since Sheree-Kim on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. And that's saying a lot. But as someone whose interest in televised athletics is generally limited to the speed-sewing on Project Runway, I find that watching the Open just makes me think back on my favorite tennis moments in movies. There’s the fateful net shot in Match Point, of course, and the romantic volleying in Wimbledon. And who could possibly forget the gut-wrenching suspense of the climactic match in Hitchcock’s Strangers on a Train? There are also plenty of great tennis moments in movies that don’t have anything to do with the sport. »

Morgans Trailer

16 August 2009 5:21 PM, PDT | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

Columbia must've liked what Hugh Grant and director Marc Lawrence did with Music & Lyrics and Two Weeks Notice, since they're putting the duo's next rom-com smack dab in December, 2 weeks before Christmas. Nothing against Grant, but you'd think the guy would at least Try to do something else instead of just collecting paychecks to re-do the same film over and over. I can't say I've been interested in anything he's done since the very cool About A Boy in 2002. Grant's new formulaic... »

'Did You Hear About the Morgans?' trailer hits

15 August 2009 7:50 PM, PDT | screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news »

It's been a while since we last saw Hugh Grant on the big screen, but he'll soon return in Mark Lawrence's comedy "Did You Hear About the Morgans?," which is scheduled to hit theaters Dec. 11, 2009. Grant also worked with the director on "Music and Lyrics" and "Two Weeks Notice."

A trailer for the "Morgans" has popped up online, and you can check it out after the jump. My first reaction is rather negative, because to be honest, this doesn't look funny to me at all. Okay, I admit I laughed once (pay attention to the Sarah Palin joke in the preview). But see for yourself and share you opinion below.

"Morgans" focuses on a troubled New York couple forced to enter a witness protection program in Wyoming after they witness a murder. It's in the middle of nowhere that they finally seem to understand who they really are and stuff. »

The Proposal is more popular than Sex and the City!

11 August 2009 9:36 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

The Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynold romantic comedy as just become the #19 highest grossing romantic comedy of all, surpassing the success of the Sex And The City movie. It is also Sandra Bullock's highest grossing film to day, quite a feat considering that she starred in high-earners like Speed.

More after the jump.

Adjusting for inflation, Box Office Mojo lists "The Proposal" as the 19th highest grossing romantic comedy of all time in North America. ("Pretty Woman" is No. 1; "Sex and the City," is No. 20.)

Bullock has been breaking records both sides of the Atlantic proving she still has what it takes to open a movie.  UK audiences flocked to the cinema for the opening of The Proposal in July making it her biggest UK opening ever (£3,233,422) and beating previous record holder 'Two Weeks Notice' (£2.6) by a stellar 25%.  In the Us The Proposal is Sandra Bullock's »

Beauty Break: Gold Diggers

5 August 2009 10:20 PM, PDT | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

Money is as much a part of romantic comedy match-making as it was in days of yore (see: Pretty Woman, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Ever After, Two Weeks Notice, Pride and Prejudice, Sex and the City) but nowadays the lust for big bucks and a life lived in the lap of luxury is buried underneath lots of other stuff. It's barely acknowledged or commented on... possibly because it's so much of a given.

I think it's much hotter when the rich husband hunting is completely foregrounded. Give me those classic pets after big baguettes every time.

Self aware gold diggers are much sexier.

They delight in fighting duels

But I prefer a man who lives

Two Fresh Clips From Sandra Bullock's 'All About Steve'

30 July 2009 1:01 AM, PDT | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

Cineplex has got a hold at two brand new clips from the upcoming comedy "All About Steve". More than a minute long, both of the clips, "First Date" and "Reunited", revolve around two of the film's leading characters, crossword puzzle constructor Mary Horowitz and news cameraman Steve.

The first clip, like its title, brings forth the footage when Mary meets Steve for the first time for a set-up blind date. Expecting to be set up to an unattractive guy, Mary comes down from her room bored looking, but soon realizes that her initial thoughts about her date are completely false. The second clip reveals the scene wherein Mary meets Steve once again. But, this time Steve isn't expecting her to be there.

From the producer of "Miss Congeniality" and "Two Weeks Notice" comes "All About Steve", a comedy movie starring "The Proposal" leading lady Sandra Bullock and "The Hangover" star Bradley Cooper. »

'The Proposal'

21 June 2009 9:30 PM, PDT | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

If you’ve ever seen a romantic comedy, then you know exactly how The Proposal ends. Unless you have been in a coma for the last 50 years, it won’t come as a surprise that even though Sandra Bullock’s Margaret Tate and Ryan Reynolds’s Andrew Paxton start the film with zero affection between them, the film ends with them in each other’s arms. The Proposal could’ve wallowed in its lazy basic premise, used in everything from the fizzy classic It Happened One Night to either of the messy Kate Hudson-Matthew-McConaughey pairings. Instead, it takes the talent of its two leads — and nice supporting work from Betty White and Oscar Nuñez — and turns into an entertaining comedy.

A hybrid of Green Card, The Devil Wears Prada, and every fish-out-of-water comedy ever made, The Proposal has a villain who could go Christian-Louboutin-clad-toe-to-Christian-Louboutin-clad-toe with Prada’s Miranda Priestley. »

Knot So Bad

19 June 2009 7:31 AM, PDT | NYPost.com | See recent New York Post news »

Shamelessly derivative, contrived and predictable, "The Proposal" is nonetheless a crowd-pleasing romantic comedy -- the paying audience at a screening I attended laughed their heads off.

Chemistry counts for a lot in this kind of movie, and Sandra Bullock's first rom-com in seven years -- with her first nude scene ever -- provides her with an ideal sparring partner in Ryan Reynolds.

He's a big improvement over the diffident Hugh Grant, who led Bullock to swear off the genre after their teaming in "Two Weeks Notice."

Watch: Sandra Bullock talks candidly about 'The Proposal'

19 June 2009 1:39 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

If two words were ever more synonymous with Sandra Bullock's career they are "romantic comedy."  From "Miss Congeniality" to "Two Weeks Notice" or even "While You Were Sleeping," some of Bullock's biggest hits have been in that genre.  The irony is that she actually hasn't made that many of them.  She's admittedly picky and her latest choice, "The Proposal," is a huge home run. While the shtick of having Bullock play an uptight, powerful woman who has to force her assistant to marry her so she can stay in the country is clever enough, it's her chemistry and witty banter with... »

Total Recall: Sandra Bullock's Best Movies

18 June 2009 1:30 AM, PDT | Rotten Tomatoes | See recent Rotten Tomatoes news »

Her rise to fame in the mid '90s was followed by a box office drought so profound that it was hard not to wonder if she'd ever find her way out of it - but the 21st century has been pretty good to Sandra Bullock so far, granting her successes both commercial (Miss Congeniality, Two Weeks Notice) and critical (Crash). To celebrate her resurgence, as well as the arrival of her latest romantic comedy (The Proposal, co-starring Ryan Reynolds) in theaters this weekend, we decided to devote this week's Total Recall to a look back at Ms. Bullock's 10 best-reviewed... »

Bullock Slams Romantic Movies

16 June 2009 12:10 PM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Sandra Bullock has hit out at the poor standard of romantic comedy films, insisting her turn in Two Weeks Notice was the pinnacle of the genre.

The actress has starred in a string of rom-coms throughout her 22 year long career including Miss Congeniality, which saw her play a cop-turned-beauty-queen and fantasy film Practical Magic.

But Bullock is convinced the 2002 movie, in which she starred alongside Hugh Grant, spelled the end of the genre - because the quality of the movies made now is "c**p".

She says, "They're not funny, they're not romantic, they're not written well for women anymore. It was basically all c**p. I did the last good one. I'm done." »

Ask 'The Proposal' Stars Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds a Question

15 May 2009 2:30 PM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

Submit your burning questions for Deadpool and the queen of rom-coms.

Sandra Bullock has long been the queen of romantic comedies, but sadly, she hasn't made one since 2002's 'Two Weeks Notice,' a movie some of us may have seen, um, multiple times. (On cable! It's always on cable!) That's why it's such a delight to see her returning to the genre in 'The Proposal' (June 19), which co-stars Hollywood's current rising star, the ridiculously charming and funny Ryan Reynolds.

Bullock, in a nice change of pace from her girl-next-door roles, plays the boss from hell, and Reynolds her beleaguered assistant. But it turns out she's a foreigner -- from (gasp!) Canada -- and when she suddenly has work visa issues, she tells her superiors that the two of them are engaged ... and Reynolds' character, who owes his paycheck to the woman after all, is forced to go along with it. »

Hugh Grant's next comedy has a title!

9 March 2009 5:05 PM, PDT | screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news »

Last October I reported about an upcoming untitled comedy starring Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker, and now the project has an official title.

According to Empire Online, the film will be called "Did You Hear About The Morgans?"

Directed by Marc Lawrence, the plot focuses on a troubled New York couple forced to enter a witness protection program in Wyoming after they witness a murder.

In related news, Elisabeth Moss ("Mad Men") has joined the cast. She will be playing Parker's executive assistant.

For Grant, this project already marks his third collaboration with Lawrence, following “Two Weeks Notice” and “Music and Lyrics.” Grant was last seen in "Lyrics."

Parker recently starred in "Sex and the City." Besides a sequel, she's also got "The Ivy Chronicles" in development. »

Mad Men’s Elizabeth Moss has joined the cast of Did You Hear About The Morgans, which already stars Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker. Trailer: All About Steve

8 January 2009 9:48 PM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

You've got to admire Sandra Bullock. Hold on a second, bear with me here. She could have spent her entire career playing the kind of generic, romantic comedy females we stereotype her for-- you know, the quirky yet lovable girls she played in Two Weeks Notice and While You Were Sleeping. But every now and then she's willing to go all-out bonkers on camera, like the Miss Congeniality movies and now the upcoming All About Steve. Not to say this new movie, in which Bullock plays a loon delusionally chasing after the man of her dreams (Bradley Cooper), will be any good. Judging by the trailer, which was posted by Yahoo! Movies, it seems to be a pretty typical romantic comedy, and I think I already know how the movie will end. But the difference here, as usual, is Bullock, who seems willing to look not all that attractive or »
