A modern day Pinnochio fable questioning what it is to be human, set in a fantasy world a cross between Tolkien, Dante and Lewis Carroll. Visually spectacular, highly surreal and with Palme's metamorphic climax very much a nod to the classic Akira.
Not for those whom want a plot handed to them on a plate. The themes are timeless, the animation is gorgeous, the story is moving and surreal in the best possible way, I cannot recommend it enough. Fantasy at its finest.
An instant Anime classic.
