Michael Musto says it best in his Village Voice interview with Jane Lynch: she's everywhere — and it's a good thing, too. I mean, we can't keep watching her as Joyce Wischnia on our L Word DVDs forever, no matter how great the scene where she proposes to Phyllis in the nude truly is.)
Lynch first popped up on our radar playing the hilarious butch dog handler Christy Cummings in Best in Show, a role that obviously wasn't much of a stretch for her.
Now she's part of the ensemble for Nora and Delia Ephron's Off-Broadway hit, Love, Loss and What I Wore, Musto asks her if she's replacing Rosie O'Donnell, to which Lynch says, "I know they're gonna give me the butch lesbian to play!"
It's because she does it so well, and says she's "very attracted to feminine women."
When asked if she's always been out, Lynch says:

Warmoth's out again today. He hates me, you see. Really though, he busts his rear for this column and he gets a break whenever he wants it. The Twitter-Wood was relatively quiet today, but not so quiet that I've got nothing for you. Aubrey O'Day made some noise with a fairly scandalous TwitPic, the one that earned today's Twitter Pic of the Day honors. There were some strong runner-up contenders however from Danny Masterson and Fred Durst.
On the text tweet front, Amber Benson talks about her painful future as a roller derby girl, Rainn Wilson makes a startling observation, Michael McKean comes up with a brilliant movie idea and Ice-t addresses a very personal rumor. Plus, Gil Birmingham from the totally unpopular "Twilight" series brings an update from the set of "Eclipse." I'm @geminibros and this is your Twitter-Wood for October 2, 2009. Have a kickass weekend, y'all.

Jane Lynch on Fox's new comedy series, Glee.Jane Lynch is comedy's resident Milf. With very few exceptions, her movie characters tend to be vaguely creepy and sexually-charged older women. She was the one suggesting a "mutually beneficial solution" to a clearly terrified Steve Carell in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, or describing how she first learned to play the ukulele on the set of a porn film in A Mighty Wind, or making it perfectly clear to mentoring program candidates that her priority is "servicing young boys" in Role Models. Her characters are so convincingly abusive and sexually irresponsible that she'll bring back repressed memories you didn't even know you had. Jane Lynch is this decade's answer to Mrs. Robinson, if Mrs. Robinson was hopped up on painkillers and Internet porn. Also, it's worth mentioning that, according to my wife, who apparently has time to ponder such things, Jane Lynch is the new Kevin Bacon, »

As the summer season closes out, what's probably the slowest week of the year for DVDs has arrived. Only one wide release film is on the slate, and even the catalog titles and television box sets are light. Regardless, we'll stifle a sigh and press on like always with this week's DVD Report.
"State of Play" is a murder mystery whodunit, subbing in reporters for cops. Russell Crowe plays an old school, boots-on-the-ground investigative journalist who doesn't get the whole blogging thing. He also happens to be old college roommates with a powerful politician who, whoops, just had his mistress offed, sending Crowe on a mission to uncover a growing conspiracy behind the killing. The film comes from director Kevin MacDonald, who showed great promise with "Last King of Scotland," and its cast roster is filled with heavy-hitting names like Rachel McAdams, Helen Mirren, Jeff Daniels, Robin Wright Penn, Ben Affleck and Jason Bateman. »

A Russell Crowe-starring thriller that entangles 3 deaths, Washington politics, old-school journalism, and new wave blogging, State of Play is by far your best mainstream choice this week. In his review, Jeffrey M. Anderson said: "it's probably the best newspaper/journalism movie in years," and "State of Play moves well, with grace and intelligence as well as a measure of scrappiness and a sense of working by the seat of one's pants." Buy it. Also on Blu-ray.

A movie co-starring Mariah Carrey might not seem like a noteworthy piece of cinema, but it's more than meets the eye. The film focuses on woman and her brothers who set out to find their estranged father in hopes that he will help save their leukemia-suffering sibling. In his review, Joel Keller said: "Tennessee isn't action-packed, but it has a story that »

What do you get when you create a company backed by green venture capitalists Kleiner Perkins and former Texas oil magnate T. Boone Pickens? V-Vehicle Co., a mysterious new auto company that just emerged from stealth mode after four years in existence. Former Oracle Corp. executive Frank Varasano founded Vvc and is its CEO.
The start-up plans to produce high-volume, low-cost, environmentally-sound cars, but beyond that, V-Vehicle is giving few hints as to what those cars may look like or what type of fuel they will run on. The company will say, however, that its vehicle design is being led by former Mazda designer Tom Motano, who's credited with designing the Rx-7 sports car and the Mx-5 Miata.
In the past, wind energy enthusiast T. Boone Pickens has pushed for natural gas-powered cars. It's a contentious idea, as natural gas isn't a renewable resource. And judging by the glut of »

The purpose of their costume- and character-free tour, which the trio has called "Unwigged & Unplugged" and which comes to the Beacon Theater in Manhattan on Tuesday and Wednesday, was in part to illustrate that Mr. McKean, Mr. Shearer and Mr. Guest are different from their comic alter egos. They are not the folk-music fogies of "A Mighty Wind" or the small-town theater geeks of "Waiting For Guffman." And they most certainly are not the heavy-metal doofuses they played in the 1984 pseudo-documentary "This is Spinal Tap" and two decades of concerts. As Mr. Guest said in an interview earlier that day, "You would do a show, and it's loud, and it's a thing, and then you'd go to a grown-up restaurant in real clothes. And that's a necessity, because we aren't those other people." ... »

Never mind cake: Let them eat potstickers — especially when the them in question is Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Jane Lynch. The two funny ladies have joined forces for the new Healthy Choice ad campaign.
The result is the funnier than any commercial for frozen food probably has the right to be.
Jane, everyone's favorite scene stealer, plays Julia's best friend in the spot. The out actress gives one of her should-be-patented deadpan looks, as Julia continues to shovel it in. I hit replay three times just for that moment.
The new Healthy Choice multimedia campaign is part of a $90 million to $100 million (yes, eight zeros) redesign and relaunch for the diet frozen food brand featuring Julia as its reluctant spokeswoman. You can see an alternate clip of Julia and Jane's commercial, as well as the campaign's first spot featuring Don Lake as Julia's inept agent, at the Healthy Choice Spokesperson Wanted site. »

How much more good could this news be? The answer is none. None more good. The three principal members of Spinal Tap, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer, are reuniting and hitting the road...as themselves.
Yep, the Unwigged and Unplugged tour kicks off April 17th and runs through May 31st, with a brand new album featuring original studio versions of the Spinal Tap soundtrack set to be released on May 26th. Oh, and there will be more Tap tunes on future editions of Guitar Hero and Rock Band.
Collider was on hand earlier today at the announcement of the tour at the House of Blues, and got a sneak peek at how Guest, McKean, and Shearer - who also played The Folksmen in A Mighty Wind - will sound in concert: »

Man, a few hours after I mourn the fact that crappy Leonard Cohen tickets were too rich for my blood, there's word that Spinal Tap is going back on tour -- Unwigged and Unplugged. It might sound unnatural since these are the guys who like to crank it up to 11, but Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer are getting ready to tour as themselves -- just three guys and their guitars.
If it's anything like the clip above, expect a good mixture of Spinal Tap and The Folksman (you know, A Mighty Wind). It makes sense -- there comes a time in life when long hair and rockin' outfits just looks all wrong (sorry, David Lee Roth). Along with the spanky clip above, Collider has posted video of the entire Q&A and the tour schedule for this Unwigged and Unplugged tour.
I'm itching for my chance to see the trio live, »

In This is Spinal Tap and A Mighty Wind, mockumentary auteur Christopher Guest explored comedic depths with befuddled and belligerent musical acts that performed songs like "Lick my Love Pump" and "Barnyard Symphony" with apparent barefaced sincerity. Offscreen, however, Guest's musical life is a bit more righteously serious. He's an accomplished guitarist and mandolin player, and his most recent musical group, bluegrass-infected The Beyman Bros, recently released easygoing debut album Memories of Summer as a Child. Guest took a few moments to talk to Paste about the group's formation and his personal musical history (which years ago converged with the mighty Guthrie family), as well as an upcoming acoustic tour for Spinal Tap and Wind's The Folksmen called "Unwigged, Unplugged, and Undead," coming up this Spring.

Earlier this morning I went to the House of Blues to see Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer announce their new tour. If you don’t recognize the names, they’re the guys behind both Spinal Tap and The Folksmen (from "A Mighty Wind"). But unlike previous tours that have focused on the characters they play, for their upcoming spring tour, they’re going out as themselves! Also, they’re going to play unplugged! They also announced:They’re recording a new album that will feature “original studio versions” of the first Spinal Tap album (it was recorded live back in the early 80’s). It’s due for release May26th. They’re currently working on getting more Spinal Tap music on Guitar Hero and/or Rock Band. The tour starts April 17th and it goes till May 31st. Full schedule is at bottom of article. So to help get »

Christopher Guest has made an awesome career for himself by gathering together some incredibly talented people and allowing the troupe to riff creatively on subject matter of his choosing. As a result we've gotten mockumentaries Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, and For Your Consideration. I wondered what the writer/director/actor was doing when I saw he had a new, non-comedy musical album out in last week's Entertainment Weekly. It turns out music may continue to play a part of Guest's future, and film may not. MTV Movies Blog caught up with a member of Guest's talented troupe of actors, Jane Lynch, at Sundance last week, and got the actress talking about her work on Guest's films. Lynch dropped a bomb during the interview that no word has come from Guest about another project, leading Lynch and fellow ensemble member Parker Posey thinking that the director »

Everyone realizes that For Your Consideration and A Mighty Wind were steps behind Christopher Guest's earlier mockumentaries, Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman. But the thought of no more Chris Guest movies? I don't really want to think about that.
However, Jane Lynch, one of the funniest actors in Hollywood and a co-star in Guest's past three pictures, tells MTV that Guest might focus on the stage now, with ideas of taking Guffman to Broadway. “I haven’t heard any rumblings,” says Lynch of a possible fifth movie. “Parker Posey and I have put our heads together and decided we think it might be over.” »
