Final Fantasy is my favourite video game series hands down. I've been playing since back in the SNES days and have always enjoyed the gameplay. Naturally when a TV series was announced I was thrilled. Then came the final product. In three words: a let down. Sure, there are monsters, summoning, chocobos and more from the games, but the writing is just too weak.Granted, the English dialogue for Final Fantasy has never been great (although it is getting better) but even by those standards, this ranks near the bottom of the heap. Quite frankly, the two kids Ai and Yu are just annoying.Kaze is a great character, however, and the magun is a fine addition to the FF universe. Also, the computer FX just don't really jibe with the traditional animation. It is shockingly out of place. In a nutshell, there are parts of Final Fantasy Unlimited that work (and work really well) but those parts don't make a cohesive whole. Nice try, better luck next time.
