Bind Casting, Synopsis, and Start Date

13 December 2009 4:56 PM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything regarding filmmaker Dan Walton’s planned feature directorial debut Bind, but today that’s all changed. Walton (who served as co-executive producer on 2008’s lurid Gutterballs) informed us that the film (which now features the tag-line "Hell Just Froze Over") is set to go before cameras in March of 2010 in Vancouver, Canada, and also provided us with a synopsis of the 80’s horror homage and an updated cast list.

According to Walton, who will direct from his own script, Bind tells the story of “a weekend getaway to a scenic winter wonderland that takes a deadly turn when a group of friends find themselves pitted against the elements and a dark presence with a bloody agenda.”

FX man Brian Sipe, whose previous credits include Van Helsing and Pirates of the Caribbean, will be on hand to provide what is expected »

Ring, Ring, It's the Dead Tone Trailer

9 December 2009 | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

If Tyler Perry had a horror counterpart, his name would be Deon Taylor. The man knows his audience and churns out films non-stop. Taylor, who gave us Nite Tales (an urban horror anthology with Flavor Flav), the upcoming Nite Tales 2 and Chain Letter shepherded a new thriller this year called Dead Tone . Co-directed by and starring Brian Hooks (Taylor also directs), the premise is simple: College kids start a prank phone call game and invite evil to f**k with their lives. Josh Hammond ( Jeepers Creepers 2 ) co-stars as does...Rutger Hauer. We've got the trailer below. As you'll see, it's part of the Nite Tales brand. Dead Tone arrives on DVD February 9 from Screen Media. »

Cell Phone Trouble?

23 September 2009 2:47 PM, PDT | HorrorYearbook | See recent HorrorYearbook news »

Since it has been a sloooooow news week so far (Unless you count the 400th Zombieland clip to have hit the web today. I swear you could watch that entire movie online with all the clips and trailers that they have released) here is a fun video I found on the Interwebs. FourFour.com made a montage "of contemporary horror and suspense cinema's go-to roadblock, non-working cell phones." Basically 66 scenes of people in horror films not being able to get service on their cell phone so they can't call for help. A little hurdle horror filmmakers have to always pretty much leap these days. I don't know if it is worthy of watching all five minutes, but it is a fun compilation of some great and not-so-great horror films including, Jeepers Creepers 2, The Mist, The Ruins and Joy Ride: Dead Ahead. »

The Devil Is Coming To Dollhouse – Ray Wise Joins the Cast

15 September 2009 4:23 PM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Fresh off his stint as Lucifer on TheCW's Reaper, Ray Wise is joining the increasingly star-studded cast of Dollhouse. According to EW's Michael Ausiello, Wise will be joining the Dollhouse cast in the role of Howard, a Dollhouse higher up with heavy duty influence.  Ausiello's piece describes him as having "intelligence and humor."

Along with Wise, Dollhouse has either added or will have as guest stars: Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica), Keith Carradine (Dexter), Alexis Denisoff (Angel), and Whedon alum Summer Glau (Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles).

Wise has had some iconic genre roles in the past, perhaps most notably as freaky poppa Palmer in Twin Peaks. He's given some very memorable turns in lesser known genre pics such as Dead End, not to mention bringing his intense presence to such flicks as Robocop, and Jeepers Creepers 2. Suffice to say, Wise never crafts a wallflower – his Dollhouse character is bound to be something special. »

Jeepers Creepers, Where'd You Get That Threequel?

11 September 2009 11:21 PM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

Here's a sequel out of left field: Jeepers Creepers 3. Series director Victor Salva tells Dread Central that the plan is to come back with a third movie, some six years after Jeepers Creepers 2, which didn't exactly set anyone's world on fire but it was profitable.

"The financing is just coming together, so perhaps we will be in pre-production shortly," Alva says. "We have been saying this for a year now, but that's really about all I can with any certainty." »

Summer Horror: Top 10 Road Trip Frights

22 July 2009 4:20 PM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Get your motor running and head out on some abandoned roads where your car will more than likely break down in front of an inbred ax emurderer’s shack.

As summer is in full swing and the roads heat up, our hearts yearn for adventure on the open road.  Here are our top ten films that might just make your forget about any road trip you had planned.

1.    The Hitcher (1986- original) – Labeled as gore fest featuring a brutal death every ten minutes, The Hitcher firmly established Rutger Hauer as one creepy mofo.  And what can be better than one Jennifer Jason Leigh?  Two Jennifer Jason Leighs!

2.    Joy Ride (2001) – The golden rule of any road trip: don’t piss off a truck driver.  This film did make me crave a candy cane for some reason.

3.    Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003) – A basketball team gets trapped on a bus with their cheerleaders in the middle of nowhere. »
