So I just returned from seeing JC2 and although the audience I saw it with was completely obnoxious and idiotic. I still pretty much got a good feel for it. The film was a little above average. The first one was by far a much better film. The acting in both was above par even though the first one was a little better. And now a warning don't go see this film if you didn't see the first. You won't understand it. It picks up exactly where the first one left off and leaves very few clues for you to follow. This one mostly takes place on a school bus. As a high school basketball team full of hot guys(with their shirts off for most of the movie) fresh off their victory are stranded by the creeper on the school bus. And left to fend for themselves as they are sytematically and repetively slaughtered. And thats about it folks! It's quite a simple premise and for the most part it's done justice. Victor Salva is great at setting moods and building a tense atmosphere but it always begins to fall off when the action drops. And this film is mostly action. The homo erotic sub text in this film is far more than the original but it leaves little too read between the lines for. There isn't a lot of character development and what little it has is spent developing a father who has lost his child to the creeper. Which grounds the film in a human element. But what this film ultimately suffers from is sequelitis. It tries so hard to out do the original it doesn't know when too stop. And although it may start off with a bang it ultimatly looses it's cinematic flare. However, I like to say i reccomend it. It's certainly an entertaining film and theres lots of hot guy eye candy. So give it a watch, don't listen to other people and see what it has to offer.
