If you're interested in hurling bad fruit at the studios over once again dusting off a classic from years gone by, the line forms to the left.
New Line is making "a sequel of sorts" to National Lampoon's Vacation, which will be produced by David Dobkin, and The Hollywood Reporter says he might also direct. Dobkin has one undeniable success on his resume - Wedding Crashers - but Fred Claus, Clay Pigeons, and Shanghai Knights don't add up to very much. Still, provided a good story can be developed, Dobkin could be a decent choice.
Speaking of the story, it's now Rusty's turn to load up the family roadster, and there will apparently be opportunities for Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo to make cameos, but nothing's set in stone. Would you want Anthony Michael Hall back as Rusty? Technically, it wouldn't matter since Hall was only Rusty in the original

Will Ferrell has dropped out of the Fox comedy Neighborhood Watch. Director David Dobkin, who most recently helmed Fred Claus and the box office hit Wedding Crashers, in which Ferrell made a cameo appearance, has also left the project.
Watch centers on an urbanite that gets more than he bargained for when he moves to the suburbs and joins the neighborhood watch, with a sci-fi element included via a plot line about aliens.
The duo were attached to the comedy in the spring, and Dobkin had recently submitted revisions to Jared Stern's script. Dobkin’s other directing credits include Shanghai Knights and Clay Pigeons. No reason was given for Ferrell and Dobkin’s departure.
Ferrell, whose recent Land of the Lost was a summer misfire, has a role in the upcoming Jeremy Piven comedy The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard. He’s also developing the buddy flick The Other Guys,

Levy is still producing "Neighborhood Watch" with 21 Laps’ Tom McNulty. The shingle's Billy Rosenberg, who is shepherding the project, will also serve in some producing capacity.
Producers are currently out to cast, with conversations under way with Will Ferrell to play the lead, though insiders said those conversations were still in the early stages. Ferrell had a cameo role in Dobkin’s Crashers.

Last summer, word hit that John Lennon's childhood was getting the feature treatment in Nowhere Boy, penned by the impressive Matt Greenhalgh, the writer behind Control. And while just about any biopic written by Greenhalgh would be music to my ears, it all depends on the cast -- which I can now share with you, courtesy of The Daily Mail.
Most important part, of course, is John Lennon, who will be played by the 18-year-old Aaron Johnson. He's a bit too cute for Lennon, but that's just the way of the silver screen. Meanwhile, Anne-Marie Duff will play Lennon's laid back mother,
