For those that like a little rock with their horror, it's time for another installment of Fangoria Musick's Lists Of Doom. This is the spot where we talk with some of your favorite bands to get their takes on the world of horror.

With their latest effort Congregation Of The Damned due in-stores tomorrow via Hollywood Records, we caught up with Atreyu guitarist Travis Miguel to get his thoughts on the films that scare him.

Matt Damon is an actor whom I thoroughly enjoy shelling out box office cash to see. At the risk of revealing my less-than-covert man crush on him, I really think Damon has developed an incredibly solid body of work in American cinema because he took the time and put in the work. I guess that is the actor in me admiring a movie star who still cares about the character work, but it is something that seems lacking in a majority of the blockbuster set. It is awesomely cruel to chart the careers of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck post Good Will Hunting. You could make a drinking game out their inversely proportional film choices. For every Bourne Identity there is a Reindeer Games; for every Ocean's 11, a Gigli. Speaking of Ocean's 11, I'm here to talk about the newest Soderbergh/Damon collaboration. The worst movies ever to grace the screen

A few weeks ago, I called Sandra Bullock's rom-com, All About Steve, part of her comeback tour. Boy, did I get that wrong.

What I didn't know at the time was that All About Steve has been collecting shelf dust for two years, because the movie's financial backers didn't know what to do with it. After Bullock's stellar box office showing in The Proposal and Bradley Cooper's surprise success in The Hangover, the good folks who brought us Miss Congeniality 2 decided to go ahead and release Steve.

It came out Friday to the worst Rotten Tomatoes ratings I have ever seen in my life.

It was late afternoon on Friday before it moved past a zero percent approval rating.

Still, Steve brought in over 13 million dollars on opening weekend (though there is no record of how many people demanded their ten bucks back after the movie was over). So, »

Top Ten Underrated Films (Of All Time)

Great movies sometimes do not hit it off with the audience upon first viewing. Not even the sublime Citizen Kane found much appreciation on its release in 1941, taking over twenty years and critical re-discovery in order for everybody to agree it was a pretty special movie.

Cult films are different (and this is not a list of cult movies) – those do tend to find an audience (usually people who become hardcore fans) allowing the film to become celebrated in alternative ways – as opposed to garnering a multitude of awards.

This is a list drawn up of films I consider under-rated; overlooked; not thought about; dismissed, and so forth. I am not suggesting they should be regaled as masterpieces anointed and placed in a cinematic pantheon of greatness.

Compiling lists is very tough and as this is limited to a mere ten films, some wonderful films did not make final cut. »

Extract Directed by Mike Judge As both a cult hero and a criminally under-beloved comedic auteur, Mike Judge has had an interesting career.  Both Beavis and Butt-head and King of the Hill have secured an incredibly loyal fanbase, with the latter managing to air for 13 seasons on Fox despite being endlessly clever and funny.  And, though it flopped on its initial release, Office Space ranks as one of the best comedies of the past decade.  Given these three properties represent the first three things Mike Judge did, it's reasonable to assume the man could get a little respect.  Which is why it seems downright, well, Fox-y, that Fox didn't give Idiocracy, Judge's feature follow-up to Office Space, a chance to fail of its own accord, releasing it to a meager 130 screens with no publicity to speak of. It's a bit of a mixed blessing that Judge's new film is in the loving hands of Miramax. »

Hall & Hamm Go To “Town” With Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck is stepping back behind the camera following the success of 2007’s Gone Baby Gone.

The Oscar-winner will direct and star in The Town, based on a novel by Charles Hogan.The film will also star Mad Men star Jon Hamm and Vicky Christina Barcelona’s Rebecca Hall.

 

Ten years ago Ben Affleck was one of the hottest young stars in Hollywood. Following the commercial and critical success of the Oscar-winning Good Will Hunting,  Affleck and his best friend Matt Damon were the toast of Hollywood.

Then after a few questionable career choices (Gigli, Daredevil) and a high profile relationship with Jennifer Lopez, it appeared that Affleck had come to a crossroads with his career. After spending a couple of years avoiding the spotlight he took supporting roles as George Reeves in Hollywoodland and State of Play opposite Russell Crowe.

It looks like Affleck is now carving out a niche as an actor-writer-director. »

Affleck: 'Lopez Was Bad For My Career'

Ben Affleck has spoken out about his high-profile relationship with former girlfriend Jennifer Lopez - insisting it was bad for his movie career.

The actor began dating the singer in 2002 after starring in Gigli with her, and the pair later became engaged before splitting up shortly before their scheduled wedding in 2004.

Affleck is adamant he should never have got involved in the first place - because the publicity surrounding their romance tainted his career.

He says, "I was no longer in control of my life. I thought I wanted certain things, but I didn't. I got lost. I felt suffocated, miserable and gross. I should never have gone down that route or got sucked in to all the publicity.

"I was typecast as myself. Too many people weren't getting past what they read about me. That was damaging. I can tell from experience it's bad for you, and bad for your career. So I took a break, went away for a while and let things calm down."

And he admits he is much happier with his wife Jennifer Garner and their two daughters, three-year-old Violet and six-month-old Seraphina to look after.

He adds, "Work has taken a back seat. My job is not as important as it was. Saying that having a family changed my life is a cliche. But it's true - it re-arranged my life and made me see clearly." »

A couple of years ago, I bought my first and only piece of Hollywood memorabilia -- the prop finger sawn off by Ben Affleck in that 2003 masterpiece “Gigli.”

For $29.95, including a certificate of authenticity, it was pretty much a steal -- and a guaranteed conversation piece.

The spongy thing arrived in a zip-loc bag, still slick with whatever special effects goo it had been doused with.

No doubt there’s a tiny bit of DNA from Affleck still attached.

Affleck Regrets TV Special

Remember the TV news special Ben Affleck filmed with his then-fiancee Jennifer Lopez to promote movie flop Gigli? He wishes you didn't.

The odd couple invited U.S. TV cameras into their home for Ben & Jen: A Dateline Special in 2003, and were candid about their romance, but Affleck has nothing but bad memories about the intimate portrayal - and he wishes he had said no to the idea.

Now happily married to Jennifer Garner - the mother of his two kids - Affleck admits the special he shot with Lopez is one of his biggest career regrets.

He tells WENN, "That special was before the movie came out and I did it at the request of the people who financed the movie. I wish I hadn't done it.

"At a certain point I think you have to strike a balance between what you owe people who finance your work and the degree to which you can protect the integrity of your personal life.

"In that case, I erred on the side of not sufficiently protecting my own privacy. If I could do it all again I would not have done that TV special and I will not do anything like it in the future." »

Razzies Sell DVDs, Too

Winners of the annual Razzies awards often see DVD rentals and sales climb following the presentations, Britain's Guardian newspaper reported today (Thursday). Helen Cowley of Lovefilm, a British online DVD rental service, told the newspaper, The Razzies make people aware of films they wouldn't have gone to the cinema to see. ... Gigli (nine nominations, six wins) was absolutely huge for us -- if subscribers hadn't wasted £10 to see it at the cinema, they rented it from us. The Razzies get people talking about films." Stuart Kemp, who heads the Hollywood Reporter's U.K. news bureau, agreed. "People will want to see just how bad it was to merit a Razzie," he said. But actors who win a Razzie aren't likely to appreciate the honor. John Wilson, who created the awards in 1980, told the Guardian, "I like to think we can take credit for some performers who've won a Razzie and then never graced the screen again," he said. »

Valentine’s Day is beckoning on the horizon and accordingly the world is becoming increasingly loved-up. Shops are packed with chocolates, flowers and cute fluffy toys and everything is now heart-shaped (if you’re stuck for a last minute gift idea, why not check out our movie-inspired suggestions here?) However in a break from the sugary sweetness, Total Film have asked readers of both their website and Twitter to vote for their worst screen couple and coming in at the less-than-coveted top spot is mismatched duo Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen from the Star Wars prequels. We’d like to defend the selection, but Total Film.com makes a pretty convincing argument.

Paris Hilton and 'Love Guru' lead Razzies nominations

When the Razzie Awards nominations were announced this morning, it was obvious that voters are really smitten with Mike Myers' "The Love Guru" — it leads with the most nominations (seven), including a worst picture bid. Mike Myers, up for worst actor and screenplay as well as one for producing the picture, was previously in the Razzies race five years ago for "Cat in the Hat," but was underwhelmed by the Ben Affleck-Jennifer Lopez mismatch "Gigli."

In second place with six Razzie bids, including a worst picture nod, is the combo of "Disaster Movie" and "Meet the Spartans," which are grouped together because they're "two films from the same two talent-free writer/directors, both featuring essentially the same cast," says the Razzie press release.

By comparison, it looks like Paris Hilton's "The Hottie & the Nottie" was robbed! It only has five nominations despite being ranked by IMDb »
