  • Continuity: Puss In Boots rips Shrek's shirt open when fighting in the woods. His shirt stays ripped open for the next few scenes. But as the party arrives at the Fairy Godmother's Factory, Shrek's shirt is no longer ripped open. There is also no seam or other sign of mending.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: The Fairy Godmother asks the piano player to start in C minor, but he goes into G minor as she begins to sing "Holding Out for a Hero". (The original song is in A minor.)

  • Continuity: At dinner with Fiona's parents, Shrek chokes on his spoon and coughs it up. The Spoon then isn't there in the next shot.

  • Continuity: When Shrek is talking to Donkey and the small white dog in Fiona's room after their fight, the dog can be seen on a couch, with Donkey right next to it. In the next shot, Donkey and the dog have disappeared.

  • Continuity: When Fiona's ring is first made, it is golden. Later, it appears silver, then silver with a blue gem, and finally back to silver.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: - CONT: At the end of the film during the ball when the clock begins to strike midnight, the first shot of the clock shows that it is 9:45 not midnight. That shot of the clock is taken from above the clock looking down at the palace entrance steps. Therefore the clock hands are pointing left on the camera shots (appearing to show 0945) though in fact they point straight up, i.e. 12 o'clock.

  • Continuity: When Shrek goes into the Fairy Godmother's factory, she throws a book which lands on the table closed. In the next shot, the book is open.

  • Factual errors: For the UK, the part of the Ugly Stepsister was re-voiced by talk show host Jonathan Ross. However, the end-credits have not been corrected and still list Larry King in the part.

  • Continuity: When Shrek mounts Donkey as he runs into the castle during the rescue, he lands in front of Puss in Boots. In the next shot, Puss is in front of Shrek.

  • Continuity: When Shrek enters through the castle gate, he enters on the right side, but when swinging on the chain, he's on the left side.

  • Continuity: When Fiona's dad is giving the tea to Fiona before the ball, the cup handles are facing outwards from the center of the tray, once the king picks up the glass, in the next shot of the remaining cup, the handle is pointing a different direction.

  • Continuity: When Shrek and Fiona are in bed in the castle, she is lying on her left side. After Shrek gets up and opens her music box, he looks at her and it shows her rolling onto her left side. She was on her left side to begin with.

  • Continuity: When Fiona tries to take the cup of tea that her father brought her. Her father grabs the cup closest to Fiona and drinks it himself. In the next shot Fiona takes the remaining cup that is in the same place as the cup her father took.

  • Continuity: It takes Shrek, Fiona and Donkey seemingly days to travel to Far Far Away, which the signs on the way there show that it is at least 200 miles from Shrek's home. However, later, after Gingy, Pinochicco, the Three Pigs, etc. see Shrek is in trouble watching TV in his house, they arrive to rescue Shrek in Far Far away the same evening.

  • Errors in geography: When Pinoccio and the rest of the enchanted animals look down at Shrek, Donkey and Puss In Boots locked in chains at the bottom of the Turret, there are no visible windows. However, when Shrek looks at the Gingerbread Man and the castle he is looking out a window.

  • Continuity: When Fiona first sees her diary, after Shrek has looked at it, it is open in the middle. When she first picks it up, it is open at the beginning of the book. In the final shot, it is open at the end of the book.

  • Continuity: At the Fairy Godmother's cottage, while she's throwing down books, the second book in one shot is on top of the first book on the left side. In the next shot, the second book is on the right side.

  • Continuity: During the ball, Fiona's mother sits on the right side of the screen on the throne and Harold is shown sitting on the left. When she and her husband are shown sitting together, they have switched places.

  • Continuity: At the end, Shrek tries to do a stage dive and lands on the Bichon Frize, but in the next shot he's back on the stage again!

  • Continuity: When Shrek is reading Fiona's diary, his fingers change position every time the camera changes.

  • Continuity: When Shrek pushes open the door of his house when he and Fiona arrive home after their Honeymoon it opens so it swings inward. But when Donkey leaves, it swings outward and it's stopped by the frame, making it impossible for the door to swing inward.

  • Continuity: When sneaking through Fairy Godmother's factory, Shrek says to someone "TGIF, eh buddy?" (Thank God It's Friday). The next day after Charming has taken Shrek's place and he, Donkey and Puss are sitting in the pub, Puss says 'I hate Mondays'. If it were the day after taking the potion, it would be Saturday.

  • Continuity: After Shrek, Donkey, and Puss escape from the Fairy Godmothers' Factory one of the Fairy Godmother's workers has a list and informs her that "Everything is accounted for." This would be impossible seeing as how when the trio was escaping bottles of potion, many of the same color, were smashing on the ground, therefore making it impossible for the workers to have accounted for every bottle, However, without this vital information the Fairy Godmother would've had no way of knowing what potion Shrek took, and therefore could not react the way she did.

>>> WARNING: Here Be Spoilers <<<

Goofs below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.

  • Continuity: SPOILER: In both Shrek films, when Fiona transforms between Human and Ogre, her same dress fits her in both circumstances. But in Shrek 2, when Shrek changes into human from ogre after taking the potion, his original clothes are too big and he has to steal clothes from the man in the carriage. Then at the end of the movie when he changes back into an Ogre at midnight, he's back in his old Ogre clothes.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: SPOILER: Although Shrek, Fiona and Donkey's journey to Far Far Away is long and tedious, Gingy, Pinocchio and the gang manage to get there from the swamp, as well as free Shrek, Donkey and Puss, find the Muffin Man, bake a gigantic Gingerbread Man, AND gate crash the castle, in the few hours between the live broadcast from the wedding feast and midnight. However, this because Dragon flew them there, which can be assumed from the extra scene after the credits of Dragon and the babies.
