A short documentary describing how the `Down from the Mountain' concert was thought up and who was involved. T-Bone Burnett talks through the many artists involved in both the concert and the film `O Brother where art thou".
I'm not sure why this was made as it is like a teaser for the `Down from the Mountain' concert documentary. It starts interesting as the links between the film and the music are discussed and then the motivation for the show is discussed. However the last ten minutes is Burnett talking about each musician or band in turn with brief footage of each. By the time he says `such and such is the best artist working in America today' for the third time you begin to lose interest, even if the music is good.
It does have an impressive list of interviewees but really they are lifted from other places and are no more than two sentences in some places. T-Bone Burnett is not a great narrator and can't manage to pass on his love for the topic to us as well as you'd hope. Also there are no real nuggets of information to be gleamed from any of the comments.
Overall, if you're interested but don't have 100 minutes free to watch `Down from the Mountain' then this might interest you. But really this isn't a documentary but a long trailer/teaser to get you to go and watch the full documentary.
