Own the rights?
I saw the original PBS production years ago and loved it, in spite of not being a baseball fan. A youngish Joe Mantegna, and others, co-wrote this wonderful play about the undying loyalty of Cubs fans. I stumbled upon the updated version the other night, and watched with great anticipation. After all, it had a good cast and was based on some great material, so it was bound to be good. I was wrong -- it stank. I do not wish to waste any more time on this sorry excuse for entertainment. You'll just have to trust me. Don't watch Bleacher Bums 2002, track down a copy of the 1979 PBS video play instead.
