Some American Manga fans will know of American artist Adam Warren's endlessly brilliant take on these oldschool Anime characters. His version of Dirty Pair was published by Dark horse comics in 6 separate series, and his style brought a lovely intelligence and satire to an otherwise vapid franchise. Watching this movie after reading his comic is a bit like watching Phantom Menace afater growing up with the original Star Wars trilogy... only here the tables are turned and it is the pale gaijin imitation that surpasses the old and mediocre. Kei and Yuri (God bless them) are two professional troubleshooters for an inter-galactic peacekeeping government called the Worlds Works and Welfare Association, or 3WA. They always manage to get the mission completed, but cause wanton havoc along the way... this is how they get their nickname, "The Dirty pair." (This is not hentai... they are just doers of dirty deeds.) This particular episode involves the Lovely Angels firstly busting up a prison riot, and then tracking down a berzerk war droid... pretty tame stuff, but still worlds better than the Dirty Pair movies that were available some time ago, including "Project Eden." I feel empty just writing this... go check out my other posts instead, I need some Sam Adams.
