Yes, Teri Hatcher enjoys some nice gun action in this movie, and when
her character is allowed to be strong, she has moments where she takes
your breath away. But she is too often forced to utter unrealistic
(under the circumstances) wisecracking dialogue (like in the scene
where she first meets Rob Lowe), or even more painful "serious" -
"emotional" dialogue. Another reviewer said that she sucks as a mother,
but personally I feel she should get some kind of Best Mother award
just for never attempting to kill her son with her bare hands, because
he really is an obnoxious jerk. As for the movie itself, the unusual
device of dropping the viewer right into the middle of the action grips
you at first, but then the script starts piling on the stupid plot
twists. All in all, a passable techno-thriller. (**)

Enjoyable. Fast-paced, especially at the beginning, will grip you. This is
good. Story is no-nonsense, especially at the beginning, it doesn't wait
for
you, you have to hurry to catch up. This is as it should
be.
Lowe is OK in his role, so are the others, Hatcher is very very good. Cox
is
a real treat.
But these are artists one assumes trying to make a bit of a comeback.
There
are so many movies like this, made for TV, and they all go the same way -
why?
For there is little wrong with the directing, or the editing, or the
music,
or the special effects, or the acting.
It's always the screenplay. It's always the screenplay which fades,
perhaps
just a bit, just enough to make the movie dip down in your esteem beneath
the "this is great" level - just enough so that said actors, directors,
editors etc. never get the second chance they work so hard
for.
But see this one. Made for TV rarely gets better.

The great attraction of this DVD certainly is the name of Teri Hatcher.
I decided to watch this movie, and I do not know what the writer has in
his head while writing such screenplay. The story is so unbelievable
and absurd that becomes funny, a comedy full of action. I decided to
shut down my brain, do not think in the countless flaws in the script
and enjoy the still very beautiful and sexy Teri Hatcher, and in the
end I surprisingly had a good time. "Jane Doe" is totally forgettable
and laughable, but entertains. My vote is six.

What happened with this movie?
It starts pretty good (minding is a B-series tv production). Very a-la 24,
Jack Bauerish.
Then when you get to the half, even if you were trying to still believe
its
contrivances, the storyline becomes so incredibly stupid and fragmented
you
start thinking you must have dozed off at some point and missed
something.
**SPOILERS AHEAD**
They plan a scam, goes fine, and then suddenly the bad guy henchman jumps
at
them out of nowhere. We're never told how he got there (is there a scene
missing? talk about deus es machina!). Well from there on, cheap
blackmail,
contrived plot, ridiculous high-tec computer company reliying on 3 1/2
inch
disks, the clichés are a dozen a minute and more plot holes than anything
you've seen recently on the small screen.

A mulligan stew, inherently of low expectations: throbbing music; lots and
lots of different locations, sometimes interesting but fleeting; abundant
gun play; a plethora of characters (more than indicated by IMDB); wild
camera angles, till they tire of them; deceit and treachery all over, with
vaporizing loyalties; super high-tech weapons; and something about
intelligence agencies, computers, encrypted passwords, and critical
databases doctored by the good (???) guys for sale by the bad guys to
unseen
other bad guys of murky pedigree. At the end, the only true good guys stand
alone.
Teri Hatcher has the lion's share of acting duty. Sorry girls, there's not
as much of Rob Lowe as you'd expect from his star status: just enough to
preserve his star billing but not enough to break the budget or really
exercise his talent.
Fine production values and good acting. BUT: why, oh why, can't they spend
less on frills and more of the budget on a decent, respectable script;
shouldn't that ALWAYS be the first priority?
By the way, we never learn how Jane Doe (Teri Hatcher) came by her legal
name, nor what that has to do with anything.

The plot is, from beginning to end, so mind-bogglingly ridiculous that
you might suspect it was deliberate - but the dialog is fantastic, and
Teri Hatcher is an absolute joy - Desperate Housewives is no fluke. In
this movie she grabs her role and runs with it, never flinching amidst
the madness - whether making sarcastic remarks or threatening with a
gun, she is absolutely 100%, and she makes the movie pure joy. Trevor
Blumas, who showed a sly, subtle talent for comedy in Prom Queen, is a
match for Hatcher here. Rob Lowe counts as part of the ridiculous plot,
but he does no harm. Set aside any demands for sense or logic, and
enjoy the ride - a bit like Cellular, but on the trashy side - and
that's a good thing!

Okay, now the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency, (that's an oxymoron
itself))
is framing Jane Doe(or is it the company that's doing it?), but then her
17
year old son is a DIA operative in the company and her ex-husband is a DIA
agent. Bad guys in the company she works for are into selling secrets to
foreign agents, so she reveals happenings about this and is fired for
doing
so, then is set up by insiders in the company to cover up the killing of
the
company president. Now the DIA is in cahoots with the company big wigs
from
the get go, but makes out like it is trying to catch the company VIPs in
the
act of transferring the secret stuff. Next the DIA boss wants to kill
her
DIA agent husband because who knows why and also wants to take out she and
her son. DOES ANY OF THIS MAKE SENSE? A movie you definitely will want to
miss.

This is a fast paced movie right out of the gate. The movie starts off
with
Hatcher being forced to move from one spot to another to rescue her
kidnaped
son making you feel like you came into the middle of the movie. Don't
worry, you'll be brought up to speed although it takes about half the
flick
to do so. This movie reminds me of the t.v. series "24" because this
entire
movie seems to take place all in one day. The actors never had to change
their clothes so I guess that must have helped out on the wardrobe budget.
There is a toilet scene in this movie which is not only funny at the time,
but it also provides some further comic relief several times later on.
Although some of the plot was a little inconsistent, overall this was a
pretty entertaining fast paced flick.

All in all it was a good movie, Teri Hatcher turns from computer geek
to
a tough broad. Didn't see much of Rob Lowe, but that was his role in
the
film. The are two things though, It looks like it was made for
cable,
cause throughout the movie some profanity was dubbed out, and second
In
the "Bathroom" scene, I was wondering where she got the handgun? I
mean
she said she was afraid and didn't know how to use one. She didn't
have
it in the bag she brought, and it wasn't in the truck where she took
the
Rifle. So I guess it was overlooked. So maybe someday will see it on cable
or in our local video stores.

I'm watching it now and I'm losing interest as it goes on. The writing is
nothing but clichés and one liners and the plot is implausible. I like both
Teri Hatcher and Rob Lowe but their talents are wasted in this mess of a
movie. I'd rather watch paint dry.
