Fun Stuff

Trivia:
Through the first season, the cast and crew, especially writer/creator Bill Lawrence, were so sure that the series would be canceled by the end of the season, that a plot twist was created for use when they'd have a forced series finale. This plot twist noted the fact that the Janitor, Neil Flynn's character, never directly spoke nor was spoken to by any other character than JD, Zach Braff's character. Therefore, the Janitor would be a complete figment of JD's imagination. This idea was kept up into the second season, still in fear of cancellation, until Flynn asked Lawrence to be able to finally interact with another actor on the series. (Although Elliot actually throws a cup at him in the 6th episode and sarcastically says "SORRY!", in episode 11 he gets punched on the balls by a little girl and in episode 15 the janitor teases the nurse with the vacuum cleaner) more
Goofs:
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: The x-ray with the show's title shown in the beginning is turned the wrong way: the heart should be seen on the right hand side. This was an intentional mistake put in by creator Bill Lawrence to represent the core idea of the show: young doctors in over their heads. Bill Lawrence reminds viewers that this goof was completely intentional in interviews, DVD commentaries, and virtually any other available opportunity. more

Great Show, 24 December 2003
7/10

It's nice to see a show on these days that can actually make me laugh and doesn't use a truck load of toilet humour. The flashes to an inner world in Newbies mind are always fascinating and sometimes funny. Dr Cox is SO funny as is the Janitor. But what really strengthened my love for this show was the episode 'My Philosophy'. It was the first time in ages a TV show made me cry. I LOVE that ending. Great acting, humorous and a lesson learned at the end of each episode is icing on the cake. This is definately not your average show.
