Investors expecting a surge in sales for Final Fantasy video games following the U.S. release of the film Wednesday sent shares in Square Co., which develops the games for Sony's PlayStation 2, soaring 7.2 percent on the Japanese stock exchange today (Thursday). The movie is directed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, who also designed the video games. The company plans to begin shipping Final Fantasy X on July 19.
