Anna Lise Phillips is sparkling in her greatest role to date - expect her to land some Hollywood roles after this one. The brainchild of first-time director Rebel Penfold-Russell is wonderfully original, with evidence of a little AMELIE magic here and there. Howell fits in okay, but the real surprise is Bud Tingwell, who sheds his cuddly-bear image he's retained since THE CASTLE. I'm glad this got a Greater Union release (though it took a year!), but I doubt still whether many people got to see it.
