Pokemon 3, I choose you, 3 May 2009
7/10
Author: samkay1 from Canada

This is definitely the best of the pokemon films. Instead of depending mostly on juvenile action, Like Pokemon 2000, this one combines great animation (some in 3D), elements of emotion, and a plethora of new Pokemon to make for a worthy pop-culture anime film of medium scale (not too over the top) proportions.

Even though like Pokemon 2000, this movie feels a bit short, I think the story works well enough. Pokemon 3 does a better job than its predecessors of brining back some of the charm of the show regarding the relationships of our protagonists Ash Misty and Brock. Even though the dialog is juvenile as one might expect, somehow it feels less hokey than Pokemon 2000. Just as it was in the previous two films, Team Rocket acts as a comic relief, by constantly making reference to the fact that they are in a movie. In a way, they have become good guys, but I think the filmmakers are a little confused about what to do with them. The rest of the movie works fine. No movie will ever be as good as the show but, the Pokemon spirit does manage to come alive here for an entertaining hour and a half.
