For some reason, I've recently have taken an active interest in horror films, especially B-horror films. So when I caught the movie late at night on Cinemax, I decided to give it a try. I wasn't expecting much, but I still wasn't the least bit impressed. Sure, it could be worse, but it also could be a lot better. There are briefly exciting moments, some cool techno music and hot chicks running around half naked, but I wouldn't give it a recommendation. I haven't seen the original "Mangler," but I know from reading the plot synopsis from that movie that the sequel has virtually no connection. So what's the use of seeing the first movie for comparison? Even the attempts at humor were incredibly lame. What was with that foreign chef with a barely foreign accent? He reminded me of a very badly made clone of Yacov Smirnoff. Amidst all the adolescent mumbo-jumbo, I chuckled at a few of his jokes, but I still wouldn't consider him decent comic relief. The dialogue is horrible. There is an overlong conversation in the opening where the students get together and discuss titles of porno movies, ripped off titles of popular motion pictures. Wow, that's original. The acting is pretty good, but Anthony Hopkins couldn't save this film from being as disastrous as it is. I don't quite believe it deserves the #4 spot on IMDB's worst list (I mean, for God's sake, the site contains EVERY single movie on this God-forsaken planet!), but am I gonna argue about it? What's the use?
My score: 3 (out of 10)
P.S.: Why did the director waste Lance Henriksen's talent with such a small, thankless role? Shame, shame, shame.
