14 September 2003Boyd has to battle his demons when the case against a mass murderer, who killed his close friend, is reopened.
15 September 2003The investigation into the Whitewater Massacre continues and the cold case squad begins to believe that the convicted sniper, Carl Mackenzie, is innocent. It looks like the police were very selective in sifting through the evidence and ignored anything that would put into question the man's guilt. Mackenzie had always maintained that he was kidnapped by the real killer. Grace Foley learns that the family business owned by Mackenzie's fiancée, Reynold Mining, may have been involved in violence and in the past used soldiers of fortune. Mel begins to question Boyd's impartiality when she learns he has evidence that at least one of the eye witnesses manufactured his entire story.
21 September 2003When DNA testing leads to the acquittal of Mark Lovell in the murder of of his step-father 11 years previously, Supt. Boyd pushes to re-open the case. Although Lovell was only charged with killing one person, three other family members also disappeared as well as the family-owned fishing boat. While he accepts the forensic evidence that set Lovell free, Boyd isn't entirely convinced of his innocence. When the sunken boat is located Boyd makes plans to raise it but the remaining family isn't very cooperative. Mark has assumed a new persona, Maria and is alienated from what family he has left. When the boat is raised it's apparent that the three occupants were murdered.
22 September 2003When Frankie Wharton discovers traces of cocaine in the recovered boat, Boyd and the team suspect that the Lovell family may have been involved in more that just fishing. Mark/Maria's cousins, Stephen and Martin, along with their friend Fin Dawley already had plans to convert the Lovell's industrial area to an upmarket shops and flats complex. The discovery of a body - headless and handless to limit identification - reveals the convoluted and complex family structure. Boyd is convinced that the most recent killing was perpetrated by the same person who killed off three members of the Lovell family 11 years before. The case takes a dramatic twist when they learn there is another police Superintendent working undercover in the area. The reason he is there may seriously hamper Boyd's investigation.

28 September 2003
5 October 2003The discovery of a mummified body opens an investigation into a supposedly fictional film from the 1960s. It transpires that the gangster responsible for the bodies behind the walls in the Notting Hill house is still active today.
6 October 2003The forensic evidence from the four bodies found in the house indicate they were all separate events, making the house a dumping ground rather than the scene of the murders. The parallels with a violent 1960s film cannot be overlooked. DS Spencer Jordan continues his private investigation into the disappearance of his father all those years ago. The murders are all somehow related to drug dealer Vinnie Peverell and his connections in Miami, Florida. Spencer learns of the reasons his father disappeared and his connection with Peverell.
11 July 20041948: Post-war Britain and an ex-soldier has been found dead with his skull nailed to the floor. A further victim is found nailed to the floor - this time in a nursing home for the elderly. Is the Second World War the linking factor? The team must find the next possible victim but no-one knows where he is.

Why was he killed and why did the bomb fail to detonate?

18 September 2005Following the tragic death of DS Mel Silver, Frankie Wharton has left the Cold Case Unit to return to research. Felix Gibson, a bright, strong and somewhat altruistic pathologist, has stepped into her shoes. But Detective Superintendent Peter Boyd is finding it hard to find a replacement for Mel. In the meantime, DS Andrea Stephenson, who likes to be known as Andy, has been drafted in, on attachment from Kent C.I.D. Six years ago, Andy found a body on top of a water tower in Kent. The case bears similarities to a mummified body discovered on a derelict airplane. Meanwhile, Spencer Jordan goes undercover in prison. His mission is to discover the reasons behind these deaths from the convicted killer, who is too scared to say anything. But the man commits suicide in prison before Spencer can get him to reveal the identity of the true killer. The plane victim's uncle arrives from India to tell the team that his nephew was investigating a corrupt businessman who had been peddling fake drugs. The shadowy figure of the corrupt Indian businessman grows increasingly sinister as the team discover that he was manufacturing fake pharmaceutical drugs designed to be sold at a high price to unwitting Aids victims in third world countries. A major international pharmaceutical company is implicated in the cover-up and it becomes clear that they will take steps, however illegal, to silence their problem.

Boyd is suspended following a hit and run offense whilst under the influence - only he can't remember anything. The remaining team members must find out who framed Boyd and whether Eddie Vine is innocent. Their investigations are interrupted when the Commissioner gives them a new team member to help in Boyd's absence - but the team are convinced she's a plant designed to find incriminating evidence against Boyd.
26 September 2005
2 October 2005A millionaire businessman is found dead one year after he disappeared. The team discover that he has been kept prisoner in an underground cellar but the kidnapper made no ransom demands. On first look it appears that the victim committed suicide with pills. However, questions are raised when another male body is found in the same cellar but appears to have been brutally murdered some years earlier, presumably by his kidnapper. Retracing the steps of the two men leads the team to an unlikely suspect. The team know they have their man - now all they have to do is prove it. As they collect the damning evidence, their suspect disappears and shortly afterwards, so does his wife. The team realise that the murders took place in order to prevent the truth of the killer's secret life from reaching his wife. In a bid to prevent her being hurt by the revelations, the killer is going to kill his wife.
3 October 2005
9 October 2005In 1979, Grace Foley (Sue Johnston), at the start of her career as a Forensic Profiler, assists in the arrest and conviction of Tony Greene for murder and mutilation of young men. Nearly thirty years later, Grace is called to give evidence at Tony Greene's Appeal. At the same time someone appears to be copying Greene's actions by sending a jar of pickled severed fingers to Grace. The team are sent current footage of a new victim having his finger cut off. The team are convinced he's a serial killer, and set out to solve the murders he committed in the past. But with nothing other than coincidences and hunches can they prevent him from beginning a killing spree? Hunt is released and Boyd has him tailed. Under the noses of his police tail, Hunt drowns a girl at the local baths. There is no proof that he has done this so Boyd releases his name to a journalist hoping that media coverage will give the team something to work with.
17 October 2005
23 October 2005A murder case that Spencer worked on whilst at the Atomic Energy Constabulary is under review. DNA evidence that's been untestable until now looks set to reveal the murderer of two anti nuclear campaigners in the 1980s. It turns out not to be the man convicted of their deaths twenty years earlier. Meanwhile, someone inside the team is making every effort to destroy the new evidence. And all the signs are that it is Spencer himself. But events take a bizarre turn when a package for Spencer turns out to be a gas bomb which misses its intended target and renders Felix unconscious. The anti-terrorist squad puts the Cold Case team's HQ under lockdown and the team are kept quarantined until the substance that knocked out Felix can be identified. Spencer goes to apprehend the man who left his DNA at the campaigners' murder scene but is shot at and loses contact with Boyd. Boyd realizes that his investigation is being thwarted by a very powerful insider who has managed to render his team powerless. The race against time is on as Boyd seeks to get out of the sealed base to save Spencer. As Spencer's life hangs in the balance, will he survive?
24 October 2005
7 January 2007Davy, a young boy is drowned in concrete, is it suicide, accident, or murder?
8 January 2007Having identified the dead boy as Davy McDonagh, the police try to determine why he and his brother Joe fought all those years ago and what exactly happened to Davy afterward. Having established a link between the McDonagh clan and the fight organizers, the solution to the case revolves around jealousy and the love of the same woman.
14 January 2007The team is assigned to recover the skull of the Mahdi, taken from the Sudan as a war trophy at the end of the 19th century. No one has any idea where the skull may be, but Chief Superintendent Boyd is told that returning the relic is key to peace in the Sudan. He's also asked to look into the death 20 years previously of a Sudanese refugee, Omar Jaffiri, as there is evidence that his death and the disappearance of the skull may be connected. Their investigation leads them to the Fakir Society, a hundred year old private club that has many secrets.
15 January 2007Having recovered a skull, the question is now whether it is that of the Mahdi. Information about Omar Jaffiri suggests that he may have been tortured before he died. His now adult daughter assists the police, event though she was quite young at the time of her father's murder in the family shop. What they deduce is a connection between the victim and the Fakir lodge, as well as the shadier side of government.
21 January 2007When two bodies are found during the renovation of a building in the City, Det. Supt. Boyd and the cold case squad find themselves investigating a murder that occurred in 1992. The victims were apparently planning to run off as the police also find airline tickets and false passports. The couple was apparently having sex when a single bullet killed them both. They are identified as Mervyn Simmel, a securities trader who was under investigation for insider trading and Katherine Keane, a financial journalist responsible for uncovering several financial scandals. As the investigation continues, the police identify several possible suspects. Simmel had a falling out with his partner, Lucien Calvin, who subsequently left the financial industry. As for Keane, she was married and also had several lovers, so there is any number of suspects.
22 January 2007
28 January 2007James Jensen has just been released after spending 20 years in a psychiatric institution. He had admitted to killing three men and in the course of his trial, he attacked a male nurse that had been assigned to care for him. The judge ruled he was unfit to stand trial and was incarcerated indefinitely. On his release however, the widow of Henry Goss, one of the three victims, receives the wallets of each of the dead men. James has no recollection of the events leading up to his original arrest and can't explain some elements of his confession. James is however haunted by memories of his time at the Hickley Home for Children, where he grew up. The fact that all three of the original victims were in some way connected to the children's home does not escape the police's attention.
29 January 2007Another murder has been committed and Boyd knows he must track down the killer before he strikes again. Does the answer lie in events at the children's home many years previously?
4 February 2007A badly decomposed body is discovered buried in a Hampstead garden, while a convicted murderer escapes from a secure psychiatric unit. The team is drawn back to a horrific double parricide from 1967.
5 February 2007After Daniel Lennon attacks Dr. Raymond Parke, who is known for his unorthodox psychiatric views, the police try to learn more about the goings on at the house where the doctor experimented on his youthful patients in the 1960's. Grace returns temporarily to help with Daniel's nephew Mark, who is now showing many of the same symptoms as his uncle at that age. The pathologist provides crucial evidence on the death of Daniel's parents but as Daniel once again takes LSD in an attempt to jar his memories from 40 years ago, the police try to locate him before he can do harm to himself or others.
18 February 2007This episode revolves around a cold case from May 1945, where a young girl was found stabbed to death in a London back street. The identity of the girl is finally revealed by her diary which was found in a derelict house. DC Mel Silver seemed to have worked on the case just before her death. So says Sarah, a Nazi hunter, who pretends to be working for Interpol. She sent a ceremonial SS-dagger to Boyd's team; this turns out to be the murder weapon, and it came from that same house, belonging to a family of Jewish-Polish decent, who seem to have a lot of secrets, leading right back right to the darkest chapter of German history. Meanwhile people start dying in the "now". To tell much more would be a spoiler. Expect a starring performance by Eileen Atkins as the matriarch.
19 February 2007As the investigation continues, the police learn, through DNA tests that the Dusniak family may not be what they pretend to be. Boyd and the team must piece together a complex tale of deception and identity theft that ultimately reveals some of the horrors of WW II and the Nazi medical experiments. Boyd and the Mossad agent develop a personal relationship.
14 April 2008
15 April 2008
21 April 2008Whilst Boyd pursues his disturbed son who has fled a psychiatric ward, the severed head of prisoner governor James Reading is fished from a river. Ex-cons Kelleher and Ryan threatened him whilst in gaol but both had alibis from hostel warden Owens. Kelleher, dying of cancer, is back inside, in therapy with jumpy doctor Hooper, now shacked up with Reading's daughter Cathy.Ryan seems quite mad, pointing the finger at a screw called Pike. But, whilst Eve is reconstructing the crime, Kelleher uses Pike and a female officer, Linda Cummings, as hostages, to escape from prison, eventually releasing them to abduct Hooper. At the same time Ryan's dead body is discovered.
22 April 2008NOTE. A SPOILER TELLS YOU WHODUNNIT. Six other male corpses are found in a field along with Ryan's, all sex offenders, and Grace believes Kelleher killed them. After breaking into Hooper's filing cabinet she and Boyd find an anonymous manuscript, owning up to the murders to prevent further sex crimes by the victims. They surmise that Kelleher is in cahoots with Hooper but Kelleher tortures and kills Hooper after expressing scorn for his methods. A DNA test shows that Cathy and her daughter are sisters and she admits that she accidentally killed her father after he raped her. Boyd is not wholly convinced and she tells him that she rang Linda for help and that Linda beheaded him after sending her out to give her an alibi. Linda, a sex abuse victim herself, is, incredibly, the mastermind behind the murders, manipulating Kelleher to assist her and planting the manuscript to incriminate Hooper. She and Kelleher are arrested whilst Cathy is released and Boyd resumes the search for his son.
28 April 2008
29 April 2008
5 May 2008After receiving an anonymous email Boyd's team discover on wasteland the mummified body of George Andrews, a youngster who disappeared years earlier after aligning himself to an extreme right wing group headed by Martin Armstrong. It turns out that George was actually called Sam and had infiltrated the group to investigate the death of his black boyfriend. Chief suspect is ageing skinhead Jim Brown but he goes on the run, taking with him his daughter Natalie's Muslim boyfriend as hostage.
6 May 2008Boyd and his team find themselves in a race against time as they pursue racist skinhead Jim Brown and his young hostage in order to find out who murdered Sam seventeen years earlier.
12 May 2008
13 May 2008
19 May 2008Eve connects DNA from the blood of a man who assaulted a police officer and ran off to that found on a murdered mother and son whose corpses she unearthed working as a volunteer in the wake of the Bosnian war. The assault cropped up on CCTV, likewise the theft of a hand-bag stolen from hospital lab employee Veronica, in fact a Serb refugee who escaped as a small child and lives with her father Dr. Milan Vaspovic.Eve identifies the bag as having contained pure opium which Veronica and her two male Serb accomplices try to recover from the thieves, street kids who knew Boyd's son,Luke. Boyd gets to it first whilst failing to arrest Veronica whilst Eve takes a call to say that Luke is dead.
20 May 2008Boyd finds that Veronica's co-worker who aided her flight is Jovan Petropecic, a friend of the family in the war - who got her to England - but is now using a dead Liverpudlian's passport. Boyd also pulls in a Bosnian cafe owner, Radovan Skedinic, whose phone number Veronica had and who was the broker in the Serbs' drug deals. Dr. Vaspovic agrees that he lost touch with his wife and son in the war, assuming they were murdered, which Eve confirms. Veronica - real name Anna - tells her Serb accomplices she has joined their gang because she believes it will lead her to the double agent who killed her mother and brother, whom she is convinced is Radovan. Boyd saves her from their kidnap attempt and she and her father watch as two unlikely conspirators are exposed. Boyd then sees his son's corpse and shows unusual emotion.
6 September 2009Boyd's team investigate after P.C. Katrina Howard discovers a middle-aged woman nude and wandering in woods after an apparent car crash and takes her to hospital. The woman is apparently amnesiac though she has flashes back to her teenage when she escaped from a brutal Magdalene Convent in Ireland helped by Mick O'Hare and Father Quinn. She is Elizabeth Andrews, a successful business woman but her DNA is oddly linked to a double murder in a Soho club forty years earlier, when one of the victims was a Turkish sex trafficker and the other man a John Doe. Elizabeth's abductors are Turks and a visit to her house reveals a man believed to be her husband Tony Muller tortured and murdered. Elizabeth has two visitors, one is Samuel Knight, a shifty young business associate, the other is a gunman, seemingly out to finish the job, and Stella, who is guarding Elizabeth, takes a bullet.
7 September 2009Eve matches prints on the gun to the Soho club and finds those of Father Quinn, visiting Elizabeth. He tells Boyd that when Elizabeth fled the convent she worked in a Soho club and sought his help after the deaths of the owner Topal and John Doe Mick. The man who shot Stella and was himself killed is a Turkish mafiosi but it seems the woman the priest helped at the club was really Elizabeth's twin, now captured by the Turks. Knight confesses he got a wealthy Turk to invest with him and when he lost the money he blamed Elizabeth and sent the Turks after her. The Turks also have got the real Tony who is being held with the twin 'Michelle'. Boyd saves her and learns that two twin sisters were born in 1952 in the convent but Elizabeth was adopted and 'Michelle' is the escapee who killed Topal in 1967, in self defence, with Mick also dying trying to save her. Accordingly Boyd cannot arrest her or Quinn. He gets to save Tony in a final shoot-out with the Turks but Stella is less fortunate.
13 September 2009Twelve years earlier, after her car tyre blew on a lonely road in Kent one night, Gemma Morrison was raped, and her young brother killed, by two passing motorists - one of whom was called Jason as she recalls. Following her suicide attempt at her thirtieth birthday party the team - with Katrina replacing Stella, to Spence's bewilderment - reopen the case and get Gemma to re-live the events of the night, unaware that she is in an affair with brother-in-law Andrew. Eve proves that the blow-out was no accident and the trail leads to care-taker Jason Bloch. He eludes the team's stakeout and calls on a married man called James.
14 September 2009Suspect Jason Bloch visits co-rapist James Mitcham and tells him he has evidence against him as security for himself. Bloch is arrested and refuses to name Mitcham but a link is traced back to Mitcham's student days when he befriended college care-taker Bloch, both men with psychological issues about women, according to Grace. Zoe finds out that Gemma is sleeping with her husband. Gemma admits it was a means to get at her as she was always the stronger sister. However Gemma too finds the link with Mitcham and goes after him on the very bridge where he killed her brother, and she is prepared to commit a judicial slaying of her own. Can Boyd stop her?
20 September 2009Eve is intrigued that her boyfriend, Ukrainian aid worker Stefan, has a bag full of different passports and chest bruises suggesting bullet wounds. She secretly takes his DNA and links it to the death of another aid worker, Briony Havers. Boyd, opposed by all the team but especially Eve, re-opens the Havers case. Stefan admits he knew Briony but denies murder. Eve believes him, particularly when he turns out to have saved the life of a girl called Olena when a ferry capsized. Olena was an illegal immigrant, though, and Grace thinks Briony and Stefan were people traffickers and Briony was killed to silence her. At the club frequented by Ukrainians, where Eve met Stefan, some form of exchange is practised, involving Briony's ex-lover, Devlin. Eve resigns when Boyd breaks her cover by bringing Stefan to her lab. She is told that Olena worked in a hospital but when she gets there she finds it is derelict and she is overpowered.
21 September 2009Eve comes round and finds she is tied to a chair whilst Spence, following another lead, comes to a deserted farm-house where he finds and rescues Georg, a Ukrainian boy whose eyes have been removed in the expectation of payment. Olena's corpse is discovered, along with jars of body parts. It is an illegal live organ trade. Realising that Eve has gone to the only derelict hospital in the area, Boyd tracks her down. Devlin, the trafficking boss, is about to operate on her but Stefan saves her and brings her to Boyd, whilst Devlin and his henchmen escape. Stefan admits to Boyd that Devlin had a hold on him and Briony, and forced Briony to operate on Olena, later having Briony killed to frame Stefan. After Eve and Stefan leave for a weekend in a lakeside cabin, Boyd realises that Stefan has not been entirely honest. The false passports Eve found are to allow him to pose as a doctor for financial gain, and he purposely picked up Eve, knowing that she would defend him against the others. Boyd and the team arrive at the lake just as Devlin turns up and there is a shoot-out.
27 September 2009An old adversary, serial Killer Linda Cummings, entices Boyd to solve 2 more murders. Is she for real or just playing games.
28 September 2009As Boyd investigates Sandra's demise Ellen, Linda's lover and fellow patient says she saw Dr. Mohammed bury Sandra. It transpires that David, confusing Sandra with his brutal mother, accidentally killed her and Mohammed got another patient to help bury her.David killed McCarthy for opposing his relationship with Sandra and Mohammed made it look like suicide. Linda stages a riot, taking over the control room and trapping Mohammed in the gym with David, who kills him, and using the confusion to escape. She abducts Grace and Penny , ending up on top of the building where Luke died and where Boyd now finally rids himself of Linda.
