Synopsis for
The Bourne Identity (2002)

Who is Jason Bourne? Not even he knows for sure. Considered a rogue agent by the Treadstone Project, Bourne is an amnesiac who must piece together the clues to his true identity while staying ahead of the assassin's bullet. Armed only with a name, and a Zürich bank account, he learns more about who he is... or might be. Is Bourne really Kane? Is Kane a renegade agent?

The film contains fast-paced and exciting action sequences. However, Bourne appears to be portrayed as a confident superhuman, or an invincible James Bond. There are times where I have wondered how Bourne can just "know" what his opponents are doing or when danger is near. The filmmakers need to respect that the audience isn't full of highly-trained soldiers with years of military experience. Putting that aside, the film was quite interesting.

This movie is based on the novel of the same name by Robert Ludlum in the early 1980's at the height of the Cold War. The book has also spawned a television series and several more books.

Matt Damon shows the true meaning of paranoia in this movie as he portrays a man who learns that some things may be best forgotten.
