Review: iTunes 99p Rental – Scary Movie 3

27 October 2009 5:01 PM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

The way we watch movies is changing. In five years time, the studios believe, all our home entertainment will be delivered digitally. Apple know this, and already have a large quantity of movies available via iTunes and Apple TV.

To encourage us to try this form of media, every week iTunes offers one movie for rental at 99p, a considerable discount from the usual price of £3.50. Every week I  review the movie that has been chosen. This week, to coincide with Halloween, they’ve selected… Airplane creator David Zucker’s Scary Movie 3.

The first Scary Movie was the first proper spoof movie for a while when it was released. Opening at a time when gross-out movies had hit their prime, it was a big success. Infused with The Wayan family’s edge and relevant humour, it was a mix of old style Zucker/Abrams puns and more contemporary American Pie-style sex comedy, »

Marlon Wayans Close to Star in Richard Pryor's Biopic

8 October 2009 12:13 AM, PDT | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

Marlon Wayans could be trading off accelerator suit with jokes. Entertainment Weekly (EW) claimed that the "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" actor is likely to portray legendary comedian/actor Richard Pryor in "Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?". He is said to be in advanced discussions.

For the part, the "White Chick" star reportedly impressed the producers with a 13-minute screen test where he, as sources told EW, "transforms into Pryor." Should the deal is settled, the 37-year-old will replace previously-attached comedian Eddie Murphy. The latter actor has dropped his involvement over conflicts with Paramount Pictures which was on board to finance the film.

"Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?" will take the focus on Pryor's controversial brand of comedy and his battle with drugs. The script for this biopic has been penned by "Dreamgirls" helmer Bill Condon, who is also set to direct. Adam Sandler »

Filmmaker Roger Corman revives the Black Scorpion

20 August 2009 3:58 PM, PDT | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Sexy superheroine the Black Scorpion is returning to guard the streets of Angel City, this time in a new comic book series.

Roger Corman's Black Scorpion is being published by Bluewater Productions in a partnership with the director, who is known mainly for his horror movie output.

The crimefighter previously featured in two made-for-cable movies in 1995 and 1997, both starring Joan Severance, and a 2001 Sci Fi Channel series starring Michelle Lintel.

The new comic book, out in November, will reintroduce and reimagine the scantily-clad vigilante who was created by Corman and producer Craig Nevius.

Nevius said: "Roger and I had always intended to create a comic book franchise based on the Black Scorpion movies and TV series.

"And with classic costumed superheroes back in vogue thanks to the success of the Batman and Iron Man movies, the time seemed right to bring back our costumed superheroine."

The Next Generation of The Wayans Brothers

11 March 2009 7:00 AM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

The prolific Wayans clan has begun to turn out a second generation of comic performers. UTA has just signed Damien Dante Wayans -- nephew of filmmaker Keenen Ivory ("White Chicks"), and Craig and Damon Jr are set to co-star in Damien's directing debut, "Dance Flick." Damien is a co-writer (along with Craig, Keenen, Shawn and Marlon) and executive producer of the movie as well. Older-generation siblings Shawn, Marlon, Kim and Keenen all appear in the film. Damien and Craig also have formed a film and TV production company called, naturally, Second Generation Entertainment. The trio plans to create, develop and produce content for the young-adult market. Damien's acting career has included roles on TV's "House," "Malibu's Most Wanted" and "Little Man." He also been a supervising producer, director and writer on uncle Damon's sitcom "My Wife and Kids." Craig's writing and producing credits include "Scary Movie 2" and "My Wife and Kids. »
