Trivia for
CQ (2001) More at IMDbPro »

  • "CQ" is the Morse code phrase for "seek you" (a call for contact).

  • After being fired, Andrezej puts his fist through the screening room door. This is a reference to Francis Ford Coppola (father of director Roman Coppola) and his short temper. In fact, when the editors get a framed section of the destroyed wall, it is actually a portion of a wall the elder Coppola wrecked in his early directing days.

  • The trailer for the film is stylistically identical for the trailer that Paul designs for the film within the film, which, in turn, is stylistically identical to the trailer for the Stanley Kubrick film, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964).

  • Jason Schwartzman choreographed the vampire dance sequence.

  • The design for the inner workings of the Dragonfly robot at the end of the film are based on Paul's wristwatch, which we see at the beginning of the film.

  • In the movie-within-a-movie, Dragonfly works for a "World Council" whose insignia is a chicken with an olive branch.

  • Special features on the DVD include two cuts of the movie-within-a-movie, "Codename: Dragonfly" - "Paul's Version" and "Andrzej's Version."

  • Every time Enzo says how many movies he's produced, the number shrinks.

  • Sofia Coppola suggested Angela Lindvall for the role of Valentine/Dragonfly.
