This movie was so stupid it made my gums bleed!

Not brushing and flossing is stupid. Your gums will bleed. This movie is so extremely stupid that it will counteract any brushing and flossing you've ever done. Your gums will bleed.

"Bad Seed" (formerly "Preston Tylk") purports to examine the Hitchcockian circumstances of a man falsely accused of his wife's murder after learning that she has had an affair. But Preston Tylk (Luke Wilson) is no innocent as further events prove. He commits a murder by mistake, and is now hunted not only by the police but by a vengeful relative of the person he killed. (I promise, this is not giving anything away -- this is the movie's beginning!)

What's missing here is a Hitchcockian sense of style, pacing or even logic. What's not missing, sad to say, is the cliched character of the hard boiled dick with a heart of gold. And just for fun, the dick's name is Dick. Denis Farina chews his dialogue like an old soup bone.

It's hard to believe that this screenplay (when unproduced) won an award. Harder to believe it went before the cameras. It's harder still to believe that filming continued despite what must have been the compelling evidence of the dailies.

Luke Wilson sleepwalks through the movie as if he is fully anticipating the moronic ending. He should have spent more time brushing and flossing. This movie is so stupid it will make his reputation bleed.

Avoid this movie at all costs, whatever title you encounter it wearing.
